install cygwin. when the install is done, place the following two files under your username / home folder within the cygwin directory:
1. github.com
2. github.com
then, open up cygwin terminal, and either execute ./install.sh or sh install.sh or if you don't want to install it, just run it with sh screeny.sh
alternatively, if your cygwin install included curl, you can always run the latest version with: curl -s -q raw.githubusercontent.com

Honestly, about the same. It's a 2013 but still on the original battery and it'll last a good 8-10 hours on either OS. I don't keep my keyboard backlight on, and I dim the screen down to the lowest I can comfortably use.
