>Money doesn't make you happy
Money doesn't make you happy
>being able to afford your home, food, live debt free and be able to do what you want doesn't make you happy; I was bored the entire wednesday afternoon while you were sorting boxes in the magazine and cleaning toilets as your second job
>what is diminishing returns
>money isn't the most important thing in my life
>what is diminishing returns
It does, only marginally though. At some point it makes life worse because you don't enjoy being able to afford something you couldn't before anymore.
>now I have to look for non-materialistic interests
>wow my life sucks now
>seeking joy in material things
he's right stupid. Money makes you happier until a certain point.
>"rich people are actually miserable"
Money just makes you comfortable
kill yourselves
Have fun sitting in your room all day looking at the wall because you own everything and you visited everywhere. Sure, nobody wants a shitty job but having no purpose in life is shitty too.
And when i am comfy i am happy.
Now imagine being comfy wherever, whenever you please
I already do that, because I have no money to move out of my parents house and they live in the middle of nowhere.
I find great joy in sports, working on a project with my brother and gaming with friends, but I have no time for any of that. I spend all my time on work and studying in hope I can get out of this cycle.
I don't mind if people are richer than me, but people who say this shit are truly delusional and I just want to punch them in the face tbfh.
being a poorfag makes me happy
I used to think like this too but when I did nothing for a year after school I felt so fucking useless and even things I enjoyed became shitty. When things you enjoy aren't the exception anymore but you do them all day you'll wish you can work again. There's a reason people like Elon Musk, Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg still work even though they have billions of dollars, everyone needs a purpose in their life.
This guy had the right idea but wrong approach. This brand of cynicism was pretty much nihilism.
I actually have my own business but I can only work on it like 1 day a week at the expense of my thesis. I can't achieve any of my goals being stuck studying and working.
Eventuelly you'll break out of that cycle and can focus on doing things you love. Life is all about finding the balance between a work you love and things you like to do in your free time.
Free time needs to be bought.
