How come Yorkshire, or God's County to give it its semi-official name, is always, and I mean always responsible for the best things in Britain? Whether it's scenery, literature, sports, food and drink or overall culture, Yorkshire seems to outperform the rest of the country in virtually everything. I'm sure I speak for the vast majority of people when I say that instead of feeling sorry for the rest of the country for the way it lags behind Yorkshire, I feel rather upset. After all, it's this lack of competition from the rest of the UK that can breed complacency in Yorkshire and prevent it from being even greater than it is today. Surely it's a heart-warming thought for the rest of the country that if Yorkshire improves then that will surely help raise standards elsewhere. In the meantime, I wish everyone outside Yorkshire all the very best and encourage them to try their best in whatever they do. And as further words of encouragment, can I say that Yorkshire will not judge you by your failures but by how you pick yourself up off the floor and try again. Come on, I know you can do it!!!
