What?

WRONG.

She was the most stable of them, but I was attracted most to the deeply flawed Asuka.

I fapped to Asuka BLACKED edits yesterday

all wrong

I saw pictures of Asuka with a black eyepatch, where are those from?

garbage, do not bother

I assumed so.

Why?

did you even watch the rebuilds?

No, I only finished Evangelion a few days ago.

Ayy, amigo. Same here.
I feel like I should have watched more than the first two episodes when I was a teenager. Perhaps I would have had an easier time relating to the characters.

Is Asuka irrelevant now?

Evangelion is somehow still relevant, so I'd say no.

OP here, I meant to post this

I was convinced to do it by all the hilarious memes, without having seen anything, and I thought it was fair, then quite good up until episode 21, the last few episodes were boring, and then end of evangelion traumatised me. I felt as close as I had first time I saw a beheading video, it was appalling.

Pretty much the same here, the last two episodes were awful except I was still completely lost at EoE, .

"congratulations" makes sense if you think of it as happening within the LCL (orange goo), and justifying Shinji's apparent decision not to become part of that, but there's no indication of that, and none of the actual philosophical/psychological rambling is actually anyways profound, it's literally just filler that could be done within one episode's worth rather than two and a bit.

The actual symbolism and stuff of the third impact is really atrocious. It's like a kabbalistic demon destroyed humanity, and all that's left is Shinji and Asuka as an ironic "Adam and Eve", about the only positive thing, except for the hideous dynamic between them and Shinji's horrible sexual mindset.

I saw people on /a/ arguing that they're not the only ones left, they're just the first ones to return from LCL. Then again, it's /a/.

Is this some sort of a South African greeting?

You shall love Rei.

That might be true, but there's no way to know, and what is shown makes it all look very bleak and empty.

Have you found any worthwhile analyses or did you try to figure everything out yourself?

That's hardly the fault of the character

I was able to follow it.
The key is to know when it's just fake-deep, and be willing to write it off as nonsense, and stuff that could mean *something*, but not anything in particular.
Anno's psychology is informed by his own problems, and while this makes for clearly very haunting and disturbing imagery (in EoE above all), it doesn't make his dialogue any good,
His symbolism isn't actually all that good either, since the religious symbolism is mostly informed by a very cursory awareness of Christian symbolism (Crucifixion, Adam and Eve, "Tree of life", Katsuragi's implied Christianity, "Magi", "Lance of Longinus"), and more substantially and disturbingly informed by Judaism/Kabbalism/Gnosticism (Lillith, dualism, God as enemy/material/absent, unity, abandonment of the body/the self, the circles around the floating EVA, and more than I can remember now). That actually makes all the stuff at the end much much darker, because that is not a good outcome, at all.

they form a very nice triangle of jealousy

m->r->a->m (again), they are all representation of each other's vices and technically cannot be a sane person by themselves

Didn't say it was.
Huh. I'll have to rewatch it in the future. Or at least try to.

Rei is the master race.

misato fan here, pretty accurate

Everything is so rushed, with the possible exception of Asuka's return from breakdown (which wasn't actually all that clearly explained, you'd have to remember something from way back when Shinji was the main character and the series had a plot, namely the fact that their mothers' "souls" are in the EVAs.
I forgot to mention the other thing about the symbolism, it's actually much better with regard to Freudian Oedipus complex, which Anno clearly understood better than any religious question. Even though it was all internal psychobabble, it actually made sense and the symbolism of the weird images fit, back when Shinji was stuck in the black shadow and then unit 1.

But then for some reason Misato actively tells him she wants to fuck him as her last words, even though that wouldn't be a good resolution to either her character or Shinji's, and Akari senior's motivations aren't really explained either, or why he would have clashed with SEELE at all, if they all got what they wanted in the end.
And it was before the movie, but why did the gay "angel" cancel all his plans when he saw that the creature in the basement of NERV was "Lilith" instead of "Adam"? Third impact still happened, how would it have happened differently had it been Adam there at all?

Very little of this makes sense - all you need to understand that hell broke loose on the world because only Misato and her boyfriend actually wanted to stop it. And everyone is dead except for Shinji and Asuka, who are both mental and/or scumbags.

>flag

Interesting. Thanks for the explanation, potato cousin.

fixed that for you

This. One would have to be pretty far gone to actually waifu any of them.

her last words were this is an adult kiss because she can't be his mother ie, rei
don't be so hard on misato

>her last words were this is an adult kiss because she can't be his mother ie, rei
That's an interesting take, but she literally said "we'll do the rest when we get back" (even though she knew the place was bombed, and stayed behind for no reason, except perhaps so as not to die in front of him and cause him to be scared?)

I feel Asuka and Misato are more developed characters than Shinji

Asuka's character ends up going in three different directions, it's not good.

3?
(three?)

Rei is best.

Attached: as expected.png (495x221, 118K)

it doesnt, what are you talking about?

because she knows it was the end, it's more of a japanese culture thing
through the whole series she is trying to be the mother he lost and having repressed sexual urges due to him being humanity's only hope
and is only later on it is revealed in her disagreement with kaji why she egotistically wants to take charge of shinji (using him to empower herself)
and thus her death serves as a sacrifice of sorts give shinji her cross

misato is the living person who had the same hopes for nerv as shinji's mother, as a tool to protect humanity
this is why all the three girls are naked in the op
they are all different aspects of sacrifice

also she was already shot wounded and bleeding when she kissed him
when shinji saw the cross he was shocked at the blood, he knew and she knew they were not going to do the rest

that's also why he had another withdraw moment in his eva

Like, her character at the start until the show turned edgy was classic "tsundere", she was clearly going to mellow out and develop her confidence for good.
Then she had an edgy mental breakdown, and maybe things might have gone the other way.
Then when she woke up in EoE she didn't really have a "personality" anymore, she was just blood-crazed and giddy about realising her mother was in the EVA/LCL.
THEN when you'd think they might pull that together when she has the last moment of the movie, Shinji still hates her and she's apparently disgusted by him. Apart from evidently sharing the will to live independently with apparently only Shinji, for some reason, there's no indication as to what ended up becoming of her character. If her character was about realising her mother loved her, why did she not stay in the goo with (apparently?) the other souls, including her mother?

But if the LCL dissolves individuality to the point that nobody else exists and you no longer really exist, why would she choose individuality? That line of thinking only really made sense for Shinji, and that one guy who was hiding under the desk from the Rei ghost figures. Why wasn't he there at the end if Asuka was?

Ray is an unironic autistic.

She shows little to no understand of other people's feelings let alone display then herself.

She was made to be the worst type of person someone could be attracted to, yet autistic Jow Forums neets (who are also the worst people) like her.

She is a trash waifu made for trash as a joke.

It's almost as if the show wasn't about waifu-bait.

>Tfw Evangelion is 25 yo

We are only getting older from there on lads

asuka is best
any other answer is blasphemy

Attached: asuka.jpg (700x483, 43K)

that last line is very controversial but shinji didn't technically hated her, remember his last meeting with her is when he was masterbating on her naked body, his immediate reaction is to silence his guilt
he actually just wanted to touch her and it's as if time just unfroze from the time when he spilt that tea...which is way early in the anime i think before tabriz
and asuka's line might have to do with her being right out a coma and straight into a fight in which she was figuratively eaten, hence she didn't have the strength to fight his neck choke
"i feel bad" is said the same way as you disgust me in this line

and that guy under the table is really just an animation fluke, asuka survived the hi she just wasn't given a choice, survival is painful, hence her bandages

this chart should help anyone understand eva and end of eva
