hey guys, this is actually pretty important and not a meme. I'm a biologist, by profession, and there's a very serious, dangerous ecological human made disaster that is bound to affect all of Europe with it's roots in an ex-Communist chemical plant, Zachem (pic related) in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

The whole plant has been neglected, and no necessary protection was taken during it's closure. The authorities quiet literally just shut the gate, and left the place forever, leaving the land for the people to deal with. The soil around the plant is useless, and the water isn't good enough to wash in, let alone to drink.

If the wastes, which have been neglected since the opening of the plant, inevetabely travel through the vistula river into the Baltic sea, Poland won't be the only country to see the disasterous effects of this catastrophy, but so will all of Europe.

The Polish government is very careful to make sure that this is kept under the table, and have made sure of that for years. It's a business for them, and exposure of this topic is simply bad for business. The government is not only totally irresponsible, but I'd even go as far to call it treasonous, because how can you expose your own citizens to such cataclysm?

I'd love to know your thoughts, I thought this topic needs to have more light shed on it, as it's getting virtually no coverage.

How do we stop the Anglo menace?

i fuck montenegrian monkey boys in the ass

media is a monopolistic industry. They all use the same sources.

Once a paper talk about something all the papers talk about it.

If nobody give a fuck there isn't much you can do to let the people know.

i thought that is trolling, but there is some info about this in Polish media

go into detail on some of the effects user.

>the soil around the plant is useless

I see plenty of trees and grass

you're full of shit user

the contaminated area covers 2.5 thousand hectares. The clouds of pollution are moving rapidly, moving around 20m yearly. It is dangerously approaching other Bydgoszcz settlements, some of it flows towards the protected area of Natura 2000 and the Vistula. If they get to the river, and to the Baltic Sea, we can have an ecological catastrophe so far unprecedented in Europe.

The pines in the area have been dying for years, and so have many birds because of chrorine and phenol. The plant was used for a lot of military experiments and production, so just imagine if the same thing happened in an American or British plant.

Assuming you're not full of shit, thanks for sharing this with us OP.

What kind of wastes is this?

sorry, I couldn't find in your post, your credentials, user?

Aniline

>so just imagine if the same thing happened in an American or British plant.
It would've been efficiently sweeped under the rug because American and British governments have a lot more experience at media manipulation unlike some poor starved shithole in eastern europe

user, user, can i joke about "Зaчeм?"?

phd in dank memeology. now fuck off with your scaremongering. nothings gonna happen

don't

my point being: think about the effects THAT would have on the enviroment, coming from a semi-military chemical plant. But as much as I do agree with you, that it would indeed be swept under the rug - and lest not forget US testing of hydrogen bombs near Native populations - UK and US have the right means and security to make sure that this sort of stuff doesn't happens. I think the protection is much more secure than this Polish communist plant, run under serious impotence of people who weren't educated enough to run it. I think you can agree with me on that, just look at Chernobyl.

This isn't an attack on your country, rather the snaky government, which you should also be very wary of.

it's better to laugh than cry.

oh, right.

who cares lol

Im the president of the Republic of Poland

a plant which recently got a ~20 million euro investment
kek your shit is so transparent

As long as it doesnt affect our med beaches, im fine with it.

As long as it doesnt affect our atlantic beaches, im fine with it.

As long as it doesnt affect our adriatic beaches, im fine with it.

As long as it doesn't affect our wine production, I'm fine with it.

this is the worst case scenario which makes an unreasonable assumption that phenols do not degrade into methane and carbon dioxide, which they obviously do

and here are the "dangerous" chemicals we "know nothing about"
