Firstly, they pretend to be a country. They're not. They can generously be described as a province. Scots on this board, please take a look at that flag that accompanies all your posts. If you aren't sure what it's the flag of, hover your mouse over it. I, on the other hand, am from Ireland. This can be seen from the flag that accompanies my post. If you're unsure about your status as a non-country, please consults the UN's list of recognised member states (un.org/en/member-states/). Now, I know what you're going to say, so let me stop you. No, having a soccer team doesn't make you a country. No, competing in the Commonwealth games doesn't make you a country. No, having a devolved parliament doesn't make you a country. Most US states are more countrylike than Scotland.
Secondly, they're completely two-faced when it comes to their separatist talk. They couldn't even win a vote for independence. To be an independent country should mean something. Most countries are founded through sacrifice. Poland and Ireland for example were both dominated by a larger neighbour but kept a constant desire for freedom, and rebelled repeatedly, no matter the odds. Scotland rebelled what, once in 1745? Even that was more a French invasion than Scottish uprising. Scots couldn't even tick a little box on a ballot. Compare that with the Catalans, who went out and took savage beatings from the police in their desperation to vote for freedom. All their "Flower of Scotland" and "Scotland the Brave" talk was revealed to be just that. Talk.
Finally, their fake English hatred is a crock of shit. Even Billy Connolly, said the whole anti-English thing only really started up in the 1990s. Before that, they were hunky dory. Look at the way the Scots acted towards the Irish immigrants in the 19th and 20th centuries, or their role as colonisers in Ulster, to get a better idea of how they fit into the union. It seems like the Scots, after being willing partners with England, have decided to try recasting themselves as victims now that colonialism has gone out of fashion. At least the English acknowledge their role, and own it. Even if you think they're cunts for it (I don't really care), at least you can have a grudging respect. The Scots on the other hand are total worms.
If England are a schoolyard bully, Scotland are the shitty little rat that can't stand up for themselves and just follow him around laughing at his jokes. Then, just to confirm they're total pricks, they act all buddy-buddy with you when he's not around and talk shit about him behind his back, despite him being their only friend.
I hope Scotland never gets another independence referendum. You shouldn't have to be asked twice if you want to be an independent country. Fuck it, I hope they add the verse about George Wade crushing Scots back into GSTQ while they're at it., so the Scots have to own up to their cuckery every time they hear their national anthem.
