Good morning, American user :3
ohaiyogozaimasu
What do Americans think of the Japan-US alliance?
Actually, do Americans want to break it?
no american want to break it
it's too important
No, although most Americans are in favor of giving Japan more agency when it comes to security.
Why would any Americans want to break it?
Most Americans don't really care about US alliances, aside from Canada and maybe the UK.
But ones that know details about US foreign policy and stuff, tend to have a positive opinion on Japan, and see them as a valuable ally, especially with regards to how if US/China war ever broke out, Japs would be front-line of defense.
>love
Most Americans couldn't find your country on a map and if they were asked if we should bomb it they would enthusiastically say yes.
That last part is nothing personal, the American public pretty much says that about everything.
>Most Americans couldn't find your country on a map and if they were asked
That's hardly true considering the extent that Japan is covered in American history classes. (With Perry, WW2, post-WW2, etc.)
Or at the very least the average American should be able to give a rough estimate of where the country is.
>steel tariffs against japan
>greatest love story ever told
Why didn't you apply for an exemption?
>That's hardly true considering the extent that Japan is covered in American history classes.
Maybe in a few wealthy districts that still give a shit. Or private school.
a lot of americans haven't seen world map
nigger I live in one of the poorest areas of my state, and I explicitely remember an entire chapter being dedicated to Opening of Japan, and a shit ton of stuff dedicated to post-WW2, and WW2.
Actual bait, practically every American class-room has a world map
I grew up in one of the poorest counties in one of the poorest states in the country, and we covered Perry and the Pacific War pretty thoroughly. It's in the national curriculum guidelines for high school US History ffs.
Maybe you should graduate high school before posting here.
Thank you
I'm glad to hear what you say
Thank you
>and see them as a valuable ally, especially with egards to how if US/China war ever broke out, Japs would be front-line of defense.
Sometimes I feel very uneasy.
Japanese are scared of China.
But often, I hear stories that Americans are dissatisfied with alliance with Japan.
(It is not fair for the USA to unilaterally protect Japan)
t. Chinadian
(´・ω・`)
>if they were asked if we should bomb it they would enthusiastically say yes.
Should bomb us?
you know ...for a lot people it's been decades since they've seen inside a school much less be in a classroom
trump will not abandon japan like he does eu
it's too strategic and the military will not allow it
japan is an except that gets unilateral protection
exception*
only if they are actually retarded. or a boomer. (thats redundant)
Yeah, but who cares abut anyone over 30?
America actually really fucking likes you guys. Even not including weebs, people generally associated Japan with high positivity and massive respect, and this goes for literally every demographic. I believe you guys are consistently in the 80s in terms of American approval and top 3 in most polls the past few years. However it seems you guys don't feel nowhere near as strongly towards us as during the Tohoku event. What's up with that Hiro.
Because Japanese want to get along with the USA and Americans, I think the Japanese government wait-and-see
Isn't the map of around Japan displayed in the news?
no
When I was in the Navy I knew a bunch of guys who refused to buy Japanese cars because of Pearl Harbor. Back in the 80s there was a big moral panic about the scary Japanese taking over and since our President is still living in 1985 he doens't care for you much either. Most of us think you're okay though; we like your sushi and Pokeymanz and stuff
>>TOKYO, March 9 (Reuters) - Japan's top government spokesman said on Friday that Japan would continue to ask the United States to exempt it from Washington's plan to impose tariffs on imports of steel and aluminum.
well the president doesnt matter much. mattis is the one in charge of defense and hes working to increase japan's defense capabilities and improve relations.
No american thinks that from what I can tell.
After WW 2, Japan was occupated by occupation forces.
At that time, Japan changed Japan's constitution and law.
they made a constitution which prohibes Japan having war and arms.
For this reason, currently Japan has the SDF in a state of constitutional violation.
Moreover, the SDF is not an authentic army.
Also, normally, we have to help allies, but it is very difficult, because we have the strange constitution.
Anti-Japanese leftists and mass media of foreign agent are blocking the amendment of the Constitution.
Thank you What's up with that Hiro.
I feel very uneasy about China.
It is difficult to revise the abnormal Japanese constitution
Now, if China attacks Japan, Japan can not fight desu
I don't get why Japs are so desperate to change the status quo tbqh. Mooching off us works fine and you can go nuclear in like twenty minutes anyway; why waste money on a conventional military?
Japan doesn't have nuclear weapons.
So, Japan depend on America for nuclear defense.
Of course, I think that Japan should have nuclear weapons, but I think it is impossible.
Japan was actually cucking America pretty hard in the 80s with China-tier tactics, what's even worse is that Japan's products were actually really good and considered so as opposed to Chinese products being seen as inferior.

>When I was in the Navy
FAGGOT
It's interesting to compare the US-Japan and US-Korea alliances.
Seems like Japanese are most worried about China whereas Koreans of course mostly fear and hate Japan. This one reason alone explains why the US-Korea alliance is so much weaker, even before you get into South Korea's internal politics
Hhe brobably spant e lod uf tiem oround semeen thre :DDDDDDD
Japan along with Estonia,Germany and Britain should be America's greatest allies. Israel and EU can fuck off.
what is going on here?
t. 1/45 German heritage (but zero EU heritage)
I'm not even German.
>Fear and hate japan
What are you north korean?
Koreans fear and hate china
Japan is already your best ally desu :3
(I think so)
"ㄴㄷㅌ," "친일파 꺼져,"
You take my point.
Is this was rape?
What?
t. Ivan
NO!! It's our most cherished
Only because you're a fat weeb.
Jelly our """special""" relationship isn't shit compared to how much we love the Japanese?
I love you, American user!ヾ( ´3`)ノシ⌒
Let me guess
You dont understand why korea america allies are important
Also you like maoism
And you worship kim daejung
That's not me, I mean this is a typical Korean response
Fat weeb
Ah ok then
Carry on
freshmen at my college don't know the difference between japan or china or korea, it's all just "asia"
this
get me the fuck out of this country
Probably hes having a healthy, straight american life
Good for him
he's talking about all of em
you still may be correct though.
There are many people who wish to emigrate to America, do you want to leave America?
I want to go back
is a nice sight but it gets old real quick
He knows somethings going on here yet he doesnt dig down to details
And why would he
Japan make for much better slaves than blacks
Have you ever lived in Japan before?
>Lived
not quite
I took that pic of Mt. Fuji four months ago, though
Fuji was beautiful, but doing dumb shit there in the winter got old real fast is what I should say
the neighboring town was actually pretty tight too. Henoko or something like that, but still would rather be in the States
Considering Operation Downfall would have killed tens of millions (if not hundreds), yes two nukes is comparatively love
Germany is our eternal enemy though. They're always on the wrong side of history, like they make a point to do so.
The French are all talk but no action, the Germans are always at their core anti-American in action.
I like the media they create but the japanese people seem kinda fake.
Very much, "bitchy office woman" in nature. Acts nice and friendly to your face but secretly does shit behind your back to make your life harder and dislikes you.
That's why I've never had the desire to go there, despite the fact that I like some of the stuff they make.
Japanese cars are really popular in America, so there's that.
Lol many people considered Japanese products in the 1980s to be just as low quality as Chinese products today.
>Koreans fear and hate China
Source? 2018 March poll said 55% of Koreans like China.
No they didn't lol. You're thinking of the 60s or even earlier
china: fishes in sk's waters, rams sk patrol boats, banned sk products over thaad, bullies SEA over SCS, and financially props up NK. why on earth would south koreans like china
[Citation needed]
Certain Japanese products were considered high quality.
Most other were not. Japan’s 1984 exports were dominated by automobiles, machinery, auto parts, metals, and televisions.
China’s are the same.
china is south Korea's number one importer and exporter.
US literally has more allies in Asia than Europe these days.
>Japan
>Korea
>Vietnam
>Taiwan
>Philippines
and those are only Islanders
Meanwhile who likes us in Europe?
>Brits
>Poles
>Albanians
>Romanians
>Italians
Yup, that's it out of a continent we liberated and rebuilt, then saved from gommies.
uk is worth more as an ally than the rest combined, both asia and europe
Meant Pacific countries not islanders. Not sure why I said islanders.
Vietnam is not a US ally or even a security partner. It is a literal communist regime that makes China look democratic.
Viets love America and we're definitely their strategic partner against China.
pewglobal.org
84% of Vietnamese view us favorably.
What said
We're happy to be best friends but we also want our friends to have their own legs to stand on.
Superior *and* affordable consumer electronics and cheap and reliable cars is not a low quality export profile, and that's what we've been buying from Japan since the 80s. In the '60s we imported shitty toys and cheap clothing from them but in the 80s Japan was nearly as rich as us; they were not making shit quality stuff
This could be a meme
chinafocus.co.kr
well this one says 53% americans like china
Americans are surprisingly stupid Jesus Christ
also give me your source I cant even find any 2018 march poll
every polls are few years old and china is always the number one on "hate list"
Germany has never been our ally
