Why didn't the Spanish just did what the British did and annhilate everyone?

Maybe a little bit because latin america would be more homogeneous but not much since spains suck at administrating territories. Hell they even have a hard time keeping modern day Spain together.

The british had less natives in their north american territories than spain. The british had a much bigger population to spread in the world. The british actually cared about their territories while spain was only interested in precious metals.

Latin america would be a mega ultra spain and conquer the world.

It would have been filled with africans instead, unless the Spanish just couldn't afford that or decided not to, then there would be very little people to form the nations.

In 1800 mexico had a population of 6 million.

Spain had a population of 10,000,000 so around 50% higher.

Now mexico has a population of 127 million and spain 47 million or around 3x lower population.
