Ja, za nas češčina zveni otročje, srbohrvaščina pa nekoliko grobo, čeprav se glede slednje strinjamo, da je bolj spevna kot pa slovenščina. En slovenski komik je v 90ih ustvaril lik Pšemeka, češkega študenta na izmenjavi, katerega humorni lastnosti sta bili pojoč češki naglas in pogosta uporaba pomanjševalnic (govoril pa je seveda slovensko, da ga je občinstvo moglo razumeti).

Slovenščina ima 7 narečnih skupin, ki se delijo na stotine lokalnih narečij. Ni pa res, da so ta narečja medsebojno nerazumljiva, razen v nekaterih skrajnih primerih kot na primer prekmurščina na meji z Madžarsko in rezijanščina v Italiji. And those 80 years are significant, because it started when both Czechs and Slovaks gained their independence
It wasn't like "hmm there is Czechia, there is Slovakia, what would happen if we tried to merge them into one?"
There wasn't independent Slovak state before, an Czechian state was highly germanised and part of HRE, and later it became part of Crown of Habsburg and lost even this tiny bit of souveregnity it still had

Also, what is worth noting - they split not because of some nationalistic tensions etc., but mainly for economical reasons, caused by dissolution of Soviet Union and Eastern Block, and because they were willingfull to join the EU and they would take more benefits od it if joined splitted
