Language thread to help Spanish learners with their doubts an questions.
Hard mode: Spanish speakers dont go at each others throats.
>but each country speaks a different version of Spanish all countries mutually understand each other, the differences are barely 1% of the vocabulary and some slang that will easily be understood due to context
I highly recommend the immersion route. If you know you can switch to another language your brain will not commit completely to learning the language. I also recommend reading simple spanish books, like the alchemist

Great thread, thanks for posting.
Im pretty soon about to start learning Spanish, does anyone have any ideas for primary sources I could use? something to structure my learning around, but Id rather not torrent. A lot to ask but its worth a shot.

y no soy chicano

>about to start learning cant help much if you are starting from scratch Inmersion could help: listening to spanish music, watching spanish shows (with subs), putting your videogames in spanish... its pretty much what i did for english and it helped a lot >beneficios de hablar español? los beneficios de todos los paises hispanohablantes.
Hey friend. I love to see you made this thread again! To other native anglos: Any recommended learning resources?
Adrian Torres
Dude me too. Spanish is the (2nd) one.
Better to hear from non-spics tho. No offence! FWIW, your language is the EASIEST for me to learn, by far, having only grown up hearing French/Latin/German in the classroom. It just feels "right".
Nicholas Carter
talk to people, reading books, travel?
Jackson Ortiz
duolingo
yeah you should learn it, english and spañish are good together
Blake Fisher
Do you call it Spanish in your cunt or el castillian? Kek. Funnily enough duollingo was what brought me this far. But I feel like there's a better way, also Jow Forums linguist-autists says it's not the best.
Carter Edwards
This is now an iberian bull appreciation thread, post spaniards that you like.
Daniel Myers
Are you an anglo?

not sure about duolingo, but id say visiting chatrooms and actively trying to communicate as soon as possible will speed up your progress by a lot. you shouldnt care about grammar so much at the start as much as just being understood and communicating simple ideas.
I wouldn't recommend duolingo, you gotta put in the work. I mean it's not a particularly hard language, as in, any idiot can learn it, but it is still a lot of hard work no matter how smart you are. Just like English: easiest language on the planet but speaking it properly still takes a lot of effort no matter how intelligent you are. Find a good textbook and get reading and you're set until you're ready for primary sources whenever you feel like it.

What's the difference between castallano and spanish?
Juan Cruz
castellano is the original spanish one spanish is castellano in latino countries the most notable difference is in the pronouns, spaniards use vosotros a lot, latinos use ustedes instead
Jack Stewart

So it's just a different accent

No, Cletus, $DICTATOR$ is not “based”. No, Cletus, you will never move to Japan. No, Cletus, you will never “marry a qt redpilled Japanese waifu”.
Jaxson Young
No one calls it castellano here. Everyone just calls it spanish as it should be
Blake Wood
Yes and no, accent is obviously different between latinamerica and spain but there's a difference in accents between latino countries too. There are some latino countries (like Argentina) where the voseo (using vosotros) is pretty common.
Leo Hughes
hola, what are some good materials for spanish learning through osmosis
