Way more soldiers served on the German side than the allied. Even Danish SS soldiers outnumbered allied Danish soldiers.
If it wasn't for the Jewish escape, the resistance movement and the Danish sailors i don't think we would've been considered part of the allies.

the thing about historical figures is that they are rarely remembered for what they were
they become symbols of things and when the historical truth is nuanced it is ignored to create a narrative
people like a story and a figure, they don't care about the person
it's why Hitler is turned into this comical caricature in our collective consciousness, because it's not about him as a human, but about him as the devil at whose feet we can lay the horrible ww2 and the holocaust
rather then learn to interpret history as things that happened we turn it into a story that can be told and in a story anything that doesn't push the plot and characters forward has to be cut
