When I actually look at it, UK is actually pretty small. It's almost as dense as country the west like to meme about being too dense, like Japan.

Country-wide population density is not that telling of a statistic. Usually countries are split between massive metropolitan areas, and vast expanses of empty fields, with little in between. I would say an ideal population density would be around 60. A smaller population would mean more resources for everyone in the long run.
