What to expect in Belarus?

Made this thread yesterday but didn't get many replies. Any Belarusian can tell me about Minsk? A girl has invited me to her home in summer.

you would be jailed because of your flag, dumb anglo

I don't think Britain would appreciate its citizens being indiscriminately jailed by a Russian satellite state

>they cares about a little weak island

Whaddya need to know?
Just another boring soviet shithole. Obviously cheaper than any UK place, i'd say Warsaw to Moscow cheap. Not much history, not much to see.

You mean an island with nuclear weaponry? They probably care a lot more about Britain than an Arab colony like Italy

How likely am I to be stabbed and my organs stolen?

American here. I'm planning on going to Belarus as soon as I have enough spare cash and can figure out how to get there. because of the lack of border control, foreigners can't go directly from Russia to Belarus as I understand it. thankfully the two countries are working on unifying their visa regimes, so that this will be possible.

anyway from what I know about Minsk, it's very clean, very safe, very cheap. you will probably be spied on by the police, don't participate in any political demonstrations, political discussions (unless you just fucking love Lukashenko), or clap in public. although some speak Byelorussian at home, everyone can speak Russian. speaking a little bit of Russian will help a ton. even if it's just basic phrases.

many Byelarussians can drink very heavily, more than you can. be very careful with yourself if you get caught up in a drinking session with locals. I believe you are required to have health insurance to enter the country, but you can buy this at the airport. I hope you like potatoes.

sorry but we are friends with Russia, unlike your warmongers

Not likely at all. One of the safest cities @ euro. Dont do drugs and dont get wasted on the street and you'll be ok.

I hear the best war museum is in Minsk, no?

I can't speak for Belarus, but Russians seem to equate power with landmass. you no longer have your empire, you are now "tiny island". the second runner-up to Putin suggested bombing it to shut up May.

but seriously, Belarus is basically Soviet Belarus but with more market economy and less spying. it hasn't liberalized much, and the police do not fuck around. however from what I hear they aren't that corrupt. just stay the fuck out of trouble. and Minsk is iirc the safest large city in Europe, but like any foreign country, be cautious with whom you associate with. that goes for any country. going back to the apartment of someone you just met that night etc.

Thanks for the help man. I'm really just there for her and to drink for cheap. I'm planning on getting in through a bus from Warsaw, but it's like a 12 hour bus ride because it's way cheaper to get a plane flight to Warsaw and then a bus then get a flight directly to Minsk. So I guess that I'm going to have to get health insurance before hand.
Huh, that's good to hear

They don't think of Indians as suspicious foreigners in Belarus and Russia, right?

isn't Italy kind of at a crossroads right now? because they like Russia, but are also in NATO and the EU which are anti-Russian and expect Italy to act like a vassal state; shut up and obey

we are friends of all

Soviets usually look at colored people like deer in headlights cause they never seen one.

I'm guessing you're getting a visa and staying a while? because I'm pretty sure that the UK is on the list of countries that can fly into Minsk and stay up to 5 days without a visa. and the health insurance is VERY cheap there, it'd probably be much cheaper to get a policy at the airport than in the UK, but I could be wrong.

how dark are you?

Belarus is probably the whitest country on the planet, so probably. Moscow, not so much. I haven't seen any Indians here I don't think, but occasionally I'll see a black person. Russians seem to have a good attitude towards India though, it seems like a popular destination for vacation etc.

No gays

BELARUS JEWS
BELAJEWS
KILLALLJEWS

I usually travel throught Vilnius, its a 2:30 hour train to Minsk, and the plane tickets are practically the same as Warsaw.

Belarus friend

LOTS of west-baltids

India has had close, friendly relations with Moscow since the Cold War so I would guess not.

>A girl has invited me to her home in summer

Kek, was her name Vanya by any chance?

>implying the Russian satellite state gives a shit about what Britain thinks
