I'm originally from Newfoundland and have lived in Alberta, BC, and now Ontario. This is very common in Alberta and Newfoundland, but not in BC or Ontario. Obviously the Quebecois identify mainly as Quebecois, many of them don't even want to be part of Canada, and I'm willing to bet that most of them who do are reluctant about it and only see it as a necessity (ie if they separate their economy will tank and they will lose their federal gibs)

Switzerland is not homogenous, they have 4 official languages and like 40% immigrants. Of course in a country that big there is bound to be violence, but the US is past "some" when you compare it to equally developed countrys. Even if you take out the 40% homicides of nigs killing each other it's still disproportianate

No, because it's one of the pieces of clay that we've got from Germans after WW2. It's the worst possible if it comes to local traditions or dialect from the entire country (basically there is no local dialect nor traditional local food etc.) Nearly everyone here is expact/descendant of expacts from pieces of land that went into CCCP's hands after WW2.
Ironically, this one of foundation stones of Polish country, but we lost it pretty early (XIIIc iirc) and atm there is nothing left here that reminds of these times.

Quebec separatists are like lefties (which I'm pretty sure is exactly what most of them are). Their beliefs are based purely on emotion, and they either don't understand or don't care about economic reality.

The Montreal business community certainly knew what was up back in the 70's. Everyone who mattered left for Toronto, and pretty much overnight Montreal went from being Canada's economic and cultural center to being an irrelevant shell of it's former self. And that was just the threat of separation. Imagine if it actually happened, an independent Quebec would be fucked in every way

For sure it's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there (decaying infrastructure, lack of good jobs). It's certainly not economically relevant. Historically, up until the 70's, it was Canada's main city. It had more people than Toronto, and was the country's financial center. That all changed with the threat of Quebec separatism, today it's just a nice place to visit, it doesn't rank in revance compared to any of our other major cities.Maybe it beats Winnipeg, I guess.
