Syria, Iran, and Venezuela are in tight positions. If any of those go down, oil price is going up, so there's some speculation on that end. Saudis have also spend the last two years trying to cut the supply glut with the explicit purpose of raising the price of oil. News came yesterday of crude and gasoline draws.
That said it feels like too much too fast. There's an argument to be had about how much of Syria's instability has already been baked into oil prices and how much is waiting to happen. US producers are ready to ramp up production with price.
