And sure, in some cases the aid does help the state, but this is the minority. It just fuels an endless cycle of poverty in Africa with limited relief. It's why some experts in the field of Africa call it just another form of African Imperialism.

There has been many statistical studies done on both developing and developed economies. European economies have been stagnant for about 2 decades now developing economies are growing way quicker because it's easier to start from rock bottom.

Back when I visited, they had started replacing the slum shacks with these tiny, beige "houses"(kinda like these small jap houses) so the inner parts of the city looked decent desu. I don't think I really noticed humanitarian organizations or whatever, they probably don't operate in Nairobi and would rather operate in the less developed regions like Kakuma and Marsabit(which have significantly less vegetation than the south and east).

They try to remove slums starting from inwards and going outwards in Nairobi. Inner Nairobi is just concrete buildings with lots of these savannah trees everywhere.
