In the last days of/the days after the war literally anyone was trying to get the fuck to the west to get away from he mongol subhumans. My grandfatehr did the same. When he heard of the capitulation he took his gun apart, threw the pieces in the ditch and moved west as fast as he could - and luckily made it before the commies could get him. It's just wehraboo memes. Germany's industry was much smaller, their logistics were dependent on horses, most of the Wehrmacht wasn't mechanized and so soldiers just walked everywhere, they were chronically short on fuel, Americans had semi-automatic rifles, etc. Their strategy against France worked and that's the only reason they have a reputation as some sort of unstoppable army.

well that wasn't so much a problem of logistics as there was barely any oil in the first place In terms of technology, Germany was generally on par, however the US weapons were newer and therefore usually a tad better. The main problem however was the lack of industrial power and first and foremost the lack of all kinds of resources, from manpower to food to oil to metals etc

A lot of German weapons and ammunition especially was made by slave labor and of course slave workers are not generally that motivated to deliver high quality workmanship. It was noted that a lot of German shells were defective and didn't explode when they hit their target while American shells nearly always worked.

The Werhmacht never had vehicles and trucks as good as the US Army, nothing comparable to the Jeep or 6x6 and since Europeans did not own cars outside of the upper class at that time, few German soldiers had any skills as a mechanic or knew how to repair a tank when it broke down while GIs would routinely fix busted tanks.
