>be not Japanese but live here my whole life (you'll be surprised how many people are like me) >speak fluent Japanese >Call a Japanese company. They are polite as usual. I tell them my foreign name and suddenly their atittue changes. >Get stopped very often by police >People look down on me because they think I'm not White. They find out im American and their attitude changes >Get on the train. People don't sit beside me even if it's crowded.
Eventhough Japanese people don't directly express racism, it is oozing all over the place
Maybe worse is racism and ultra nationalism of elites. >Following the 2014 reshuffle, 15 of the 18 of Third Abe Cabinet members, including the Prime Minister himself (as 'special adviser'), were members of Nippon Kaigi.[18] As of October 2014, the group claimed 289 of the 480 Japanese National Diet members. Among the members, former members, and affiliated are countless lawmakers, many ministers and a few prime ministers including Tarō Asō and Shinzō Abe. Abe's brother Nobuo Kishi is also a member of the Nippon Kaigi group in the Diet.[18] Its former chairman, Toru Miyoshi, was the former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Japan.
Jordan Perez
>People don't sit beside me even if it's crowded. I guess the reason. and the possible reasons are two below. 1. Japanese people don't like body odor, so they take a bath every day. 2. normal Japanese people don't like its rudeness and also other's, so they try to behave in order to get along with each other.
Carter Rodriguez
OP is black, isn't he?
Aiden Williams
>they take a bath every day. At the evening, not morning.
Jacob Ross
No I'm a mutt -_-
I get mistaken for Latino alot
Angel Jackson
>>Get on the train. People don't sit beside me even if it's crowded. That's good, I would be disgusted if a jap sits besides me
Aiden Clark
>be non-japanese >live in japan >complain you aren't treated like real japanese maybe just get out of the country if you hate it so much
Ayden Lee
Ahahahaha
Sorry user.
David Fisher
>Get on the train. People don't sit beside me even if it's crowded. That's not only happen in Japan. No one actually want to sit beside somebody else.
Ethan Torres
You aren't discriminated against cause your not a jap, its probably your height and/or build advantage. People look at you and theyre jealous and afraid (the chad effect). I see it all the time. Nobody likes chads as theyre a threat to their own mating potential. Though it must not feel great to be isolated, I bet you slayed lots of pixelated pussy!
Isaiah Morales
In the Netherlands people will judge you by your country of origin..
And as our migrants are quite different from each other, the looks and accents usually give it away easily.
John Diaz
how do you tell a polish from a russian
Adam Stewart
They don't. All the Slavs are the same anyway - they think so.
Parker Foster
We have no Russians. So chances are people will consider you a Pole, until you mention otherwise.
Austin Evans
why? people sweat a lot in their sleep.
David Rodriguez
There are many reasons for that, but why wouldn't you ask Japanese people themselves?
Justin Nelson
Are you "Spaniard" pinoy?
Jaxson Gonzalez
Your view on Germans?
Christopher Hernandez
Hey follow this simple trick that will work 100%.
Don't live in Japan.
Jordan Evans
I thought you were *telling* us to shower in evenings.
Being called a German is an insult in the Netherlands. It means fascist, authoritarian person or traitor.
But generally people like Germans. Germans are considered family. Our big brother. And the Netherlands an economic province of Germany. And German migrants don't stand out at all once they migrate here. Except for their gay accents.
Brandon Moore
Can you tell if someone is not native?
Joshua Morris
American
Leo Gonzalez
>Being called a German is an insult in the Netherlands. >It means fascist, authoritarian person or traitor. Dutchies are so pathetic
David Taylor
Hey! I followed your advice and now I'm making 100s of dollarydoos a day not living in Japan hating my life! Avoid living in Japan today!
Carson Ward
And you are not white?
Kayden Evans
Norwegians, British, Belgian and German people usually look different from us. Although the Germans near the border look the closest to us.
On a Dutch tv show they once did an experiment with two audiences. One was a Belgian audience with 1 Dutch person. And one was a Dutch audience with 1 Belgian person. And when a Dutch person and Belgian had to guess who it was, they both guessed it right on the first try.
In the Netherlands people have a different accent if you travel 10 minutes. So we can instantly hear from which region someone is from. And it's even more apparent when someone is a foreigner.
David Hughes
I'm so glad things worked out for you. I hope you don't get some strange illness that your insurance doesn't cover or get shot.
Owen Lee
They had to guess without saying a word.
Jonathan Hughes
Most Dutchies I met were pretty arrogant. Not the folks over 40 years but the youth like 18-30. They are over confident in many ways I never experienced here. Wonder why it is.
Julian Powell
>people have a different accent if you travel 10 minutes You are exaggerating....no?
Gabriel Myers
I'm mixed. Alot of Americans I've met here aren't White either
Kayden Lee
Lucky homogeneous fucks. Every Western Euro can pass undetected here if they speak the language perfectly and have adopted customs. Didn't discover one of my best friends was son of a German couple until like I was 17.
No. All major cities have their own dialect. Rural areas in each province have their own dialects. Plus there are some regional dialects in between the big cities.
Brody Hall
I often experience that with Koreans who got here newly. My guess is that they are often looked down upon for their origin, so they try to make themselves look *bigger* by being arrogant. They get more relaxed and be humble after a year or so.
Parker Johnson
Standard Dutch is the city dialect of Haarlem.
Jose Perez
Nope. He Portuguesed it.
Jonathan Torres
I always thought Iberians were swarthier than other Western Euros
Benjamin Lewis
We have many dialects here, too. It's majorly because our country is mountainous and restricted people from moving to other places. The Neatherlands is very very flat. I can't see any factor that prevents people in different regions from interacting each other and "flatten" their accents.
Gabriel Nelson
And some are. That's my point user.
Hunter Russell
I guess Dutch people like to overvalue their own view of things. In Dutch culture if you aren't opinionated, then people will just assume you just aren't very smart. Because otherwise you would have given your honest opinion already.
Lincoln Sanchez
America is a bit special when it comes to race mixing, isn't it? You *stand out* to a certain degree if you have a different skin colour in almost any country, no?
Owen Collins
>aren't opinionated, then people will just assume you just aren't very smart. Sounds terribly French. What do you think about them? Are they worse?
Benjamin Barnes
>I can't see any factor that prevents people in different regions from interacting each other and "flatten" their accents. There are a lot of reasons actually. The South is catholic. The north protestant. In between them is the bible belt. Amsterdam is super progressive. Rotterdam is filled with rude harbormen. In between Utrecht and Amsterdam is an area where just snobs live. Farmers have closed communities and will stare at every new person. Fishers villages are all inbreds. Frisians speak Frisian. Limburgers speak Limburgish. Why would they want to move to each others area?
Blake Roberts
that feel when also mixed race but there's a whole continent of mutts like me so i dont feel out of place. I also just look like other ethnicities like north african, arabic, paki. or very dark european
my current gf is german so i hope my future son doesnt have an identity crisis.
I don't think there is a consensus about French people here. I think because we don't have a lot of French migrants.
Half of the people loves France and goes on vacation there every year. Half of the people hate France with a passion, for their rude attitudes and eating organs that we throw away.
Angel Clark
Japan is a country where anyone can feel special just by having a parent from a different country. If you play it right, you can make living out of the fact alone. Easy.
Luis Martinez
If you're a mutt, he'll be a mutt. Duh.
Noah Hall
>People look down on me because they think I'm not White. They find out im American and their attitude changes Amerimutt memes are a reality
Brayden Gomez
Get the hell out of my country KUSO GAIJIN
Liam Evans
>eating organs that we throw away Oh, they can't hate others for having richer food culture. They'd be hating everyone but English.
Brandon Davis
It's not like he had a sayq
Luke Garcia
>sayq ?
Easton Morales
>Didn't discover one of my best friends was son of a German couple until like I was 17 You must pretty stupid then if you can't even differentiate your own ethnic group from others.
Hunter Miller
>Nobody likes chads as theyre a threat to their own mating potential wrong women love the chad and men either follow him or hate him
Kayden Cruz
>This 25 year dutch drop-out in discord complaining every now and then having no money but is playing games 7 times á week for 10-12 hours.
Isn't mininum wage like 1800-1900 Euro in NL? Parents should be more strict in Swampland.
Connor Thomas
I'm from Utrecht.
Basically the best city in the country. People from other cities will say the same about theirs, but objectively speaking, we have the most students, highest wages and are possibly the oldest city in the country.
Nathaniel Myers
You're wasting your time. Japanese society is conformed by (who would have thought)the japanese. If you picked a Jap citizenship over the goblino citizenship, you fucked up big time and you should throw yourself off a tall building or live the rest of your days as a living surgical mask. Lying about your name and minimizing eye contact.
Liam Johnson
I'm from Iberia lad. I look like a Brit, I have a friend that looks like Figo and another that looks like António Variações.
Minimum wage is 1578 euro + 8% bonus. After taxes its about 1400 euro plus bonus.
Wyatt Cox
this OP should get the hell out of Japan fuck you English teacher
Jackson Miller
What is Arnhem's reputation?
Henry Butler
>most students, highest wages Like Boston, Massachusetts, I guess.
Connor Hall
He said he's been living there his whole life though
Brandon Bennett
Dutch society is highly divided on religous, cultural (urban vs rural), and even political grounds. this manifested into the "pilliarization" of their society. Catholics would only live near Catholics and only consume catholic media its the same with protestants, socialists, conservatives etc.
It's obviously weaker today but it still holds some power
Colton Williams
So it was their social and religious values instead of landscapes that prevented them from interacting each other. Interesting.
Michael Wright
Sometimes Home doesn't mean shit to some of us. Either just drags us down or we completly are out of place. Most Euros/Americans can't imagine what is like to have no nation. Sucks. It's like being a wild dog TLDR Doesn't mean shit. OP is not at home. Japan will never be home to other than the Japs(unless they are wiped out)
Luis Lewis
>muh skin colour It's about the face. I've never confused a non-Anglo with an Anglo because I grew up around them and I can pick them like a needle in a haystack.
Samuel Ward
It's not really that strange either. The Dutch provinces used to be little states. And they were only united, because they were forced to unite against a common enemy. The Spaniards (or Habsburgs). But each still had their own political system and way of doing things.
You can still see a variant of our old model of governance (until Napoleon turned us into a monarchy) in the USA.
Owen Miller
He doesn't really hate Japan. He's specific about what he hates in the thread title. If he's been attending Japanese schools and educated in Japan, it's probably best fro him to stay on in Japan...and he knows it.
Tyler Anderson
interesting, my friend lives in japan half of her life and she say that people aren't racist maybe it's just because she's a woman?
Leo Powell
>He doesn't really hate Japan. Maybe. He could even love it to death, go around doing bayonet charges and praising the emperor. Does NOT make him a true citizen
>If he's been attending Japanese schools and educated in Japan, it's probably best fro him to stay on in Japan...and he knows it. Nah, the japanese school system still works in American offices and jobs. From what i've heard, at some time you need to pick if you are either Japanese or American. I believe this is after being 18 years old. You know what op? I have an Idea! Move to Okinawa!
Ryder Sullivan
I never talked about skin colour though..? Are you telling me this lad in pic
Yes, but America is interesting in that department, like I can go to Germany/Switzerland/Austria/czechia and fit in until I open my mouth, i've had numerous people in Europe tell me I look just like the locals, but yeah if I ever go to Japan i'll stand out like a sore thumb, 6'2 and blondish/brown hair with blue eyes
kinda want to go just to see how people would react
>don't sit beside you >implying it's bad And I'm now sure that you're not Chinese or Korean because they look pretty similar
Daniel Murphy
One has to choose by the age of 22. But there's no penalty for it, a lot of people just maintain both nationalities.
Carter Wilson
I don't know a lot about Arnhem. Its still within civilization, so it's fine.
I believe the movie "A bridge too far" is about Arnhem.
Andrew Reed
Based nips showing amerimutts their place.
Logan Scott
You'll stand out almost anywhere but Europe and Americas. Being different from average others can be an advantage. One should find the way to use it instead of complaining about it.
Alexander Cox
>There are still some ways in which a person may have dual citizenship of Japan and another country, including:
They had dual citizenship prior to January 1, 1985, when the Nationality Law was enacted They acquire multiple citizenships at birth, such as being born to a non-Japanese citizen parent and acquiring that parent's citizenship as a result of that country's laws or by being born in a jus soli country. However, they must choose one citizenship/nationality before the age of 22 or within two years if the second citizenship is acquired after the age of 20, or they may lose their Japanese nationality (see "Loss of citizenship" above),[15] though this is not enforced HMM
Luke Russell
And? Move back.
Thomas Wood
What kind of retard would move back to the USA after getting citizenship somewhere else? I would give away everything to be a toilet cleaner in Finland.
Isaiah Perez
Interesting. Thanks for the insight.
Isaac Nguyen
I've never heard of a case where one's Japanese citizenship being forcibly revoked. Alberto Fujimori retained his even after serving as a head of state and a convicted criminal.
You don't know how lucky you are to be born as an American citizen. You'd be missing Big Macs and liberty flies and cry as you are scrubbing Finnish toilet floors.
H-H-He is. I can bring the crazy ultra-nationalist tuga into the thread and he'll tell you all about it. I just need to search for him in the threads, he's always here.
You'll never be considered Japanese. What's the point of staying there? I'd get the hell out if I were you.
Gabriel Cook
Even if this is OP's mindset, he should just stop complaining. Yes, Japanese people are fairly intolerant of outsiders, but so fucking what? If he loves living in Japan so much compared to the USA, then he shouldn't give a shit. And fact is that he's not ethnically Japanese, so wishing to be one and be treated like one is as pointless as someone with a major physical and/or mental handicap wishing to just "become normal" and "be treated like a normal person". Those aren't the circumstances with which you were born, deal with it, and be lucky that the worst you have to deal with is some people not sitting beside you on the train (boo fucking hoo).
