It was actually a fun story. They robbed Russian military base in North Ossetia and took some howitzers to Tskhinval. They made a single shot on Georgian positions but it was enough for Georgian militants to retreat. And it was the most lucky thing, because they only had enough ammo for TWO shots.
If Georgians wouldn't retreat and would commence the invasion the war would be over in several hours.
