I'm considering moving to the Czech republic for 6 months. (Brno seems to be the front runner for now)
Anyone have any helpful tips and advice?
What apartment-service are serious? (I don't want to pay some kinda "first month in advance" or whatever stuff, only to arrive and learn the apartment doesn't exist)
I'm hoping to go in October. I have some finance, but I'm not a billionaire yet.
>Anyone have any helpful tips and advice? no, not me, sorry. good luck.
Chase Reed
dont go there its student city
Angel Martin
Why would you do that to yourself?
Xavier Howard
'kay. thanks and this is bad, because..? because I am sick and tired of living in Norway. and CR is one of the few countries I can go to that is favorable to my interests, legally.
Angel Ortiz
We're full fuck off
Parker Scott
>going to a poor eastern European shithole the Pepikland is just because you don't go to jail for weed possession (it doesn't even mean that it's legal)
Adam Robinson
Isn't CR the most civilized country in eastern Europe?
Zachary Adams
>thread about CZ >butthurt pshek appears like a clockwork
I'm sure that alone would prompt someone to move here
Aiden Ramirez
Whatever. Czechia is just seen as "cheaper Germany" while most of Czechia is typical eastern Europe with eastern European infrastructure, commieblocks and wages.
OP asked for helpful tips so I gave him one. Czechia is overrated and he'd better not go there.
Wyatt Anderson
>he shud go to bolan we hav churches and no abortion also we third worl
Thomas Bennett
>spewing butthurt is considered a helpful tip yes, all the expats I know suffer greatly here
Joseph Gutierrez
ok, some serious answers for a change
>Brno has a good vibe, not as hectic as Prague and not as full of tourists (mostly because there is nothing to see there)
>apartment-service try sreality.cz, they seem to be decent from what I have heard
>Anyone have any helpful tips and advice? you gotta be more specific here
Brayden Roberts
Have fun OP.
Samuel Turner
I don't say he should go to Poland, we're also overrated by the_donald-tier conservatives. Anyone who'd like to change Norway for anything that isn't a tropical paradise must be insane.
Austin Jenkins
>you gotta be more specific here I don't know, anything really.
- does and dont's - should I worry about the Russian mafia? - is the entire country members of a secret cult that exclusively worship turnips? - are the streets rampant with stab happy rapists?
basically, anything you can think off that a foreigner might not learn from reading a half-page article published by the Czech board of tourism...
David Wilson
>must be insane. well, maybe I am. who are you to judge?
>does and dont's take off your shoes when entering people's flat even if they insist that you don't have to talking about commies/politics is always touchy topic lot of people get unironically butthurt when you call the country Easter European if you come for a visit, always bring some gift, preferably flowers for the woman of the house idk, all these seem generic
> should I worry about the Russian mafia? no, lel
>is the entire country members of a secret cult that exclusively worship turnips? dang it, you got us
>are the streets rampant with stab happy rapists? no but in some parts, they are rampant with steal happy cigány in Brno, they are usually concentrated around Francouzská st. iirc
other than that >foreign police is a pain in the ass and I have never met an expat who would not hate it with passion >bureaucracy is hell, you should have someone who knows Czech everytime you deal with state authorities >as the Pole already stated, marijuana (and most drugs iirc) is not legal but decriminalized, meaning if you get caught with a certain amount in one bag you will not go to jail, instead you will receive a fine and the drugs will be confiscated >people in Brno hate Prague with passion, they also have this retarded local "slang" called hantec, so that they can play special little snowflakes
can't think of anything else rn
Gabriel Carter
>idk, all these seem generic No, no... this is good.
>dang it, you got us HAH! I KNEW IT!
>steal happy cigány >in Brno, they are usually concentrated around Francouzská st. iirc Yeah, we have them in Norway too. I make it a habit of staying the fuck away no matter what. fucking hell, they are truly a pest wherever they go.
>foreign police is a pain in the ass and I have never met an expat who would not hate it with passion I rarely get into police happenings, I've never been arrested and is a pretty nice and law-abiding fellow. 9/10 times, you just have to be well behaved and not act like a complete idiot.
>bureaucracy is hell, you should have someone who knows Czech everytime you deal with state authorities duly note, but I don't think I'll need to do all that much bureaucracy wise.
>as the Pole already stated, marijuana (and most drugs iirc) is not legal but decriminalized, meaning if you get caught with a certain amount in one bag you will not go to jail, instead you will receive a fine and the drugs will be confiscated yeah... I was more thinking with regards to bringing my CZ along
>people in Brno hate Prague with passion, they also have this retarded local "slang" called hantec, so that they can play special little snowflakes I don't speak the language, and doubt I'll learn it in 6 months. Are people in general good at speaking english?
>can't think of anything else rn cool stuff so far, bro... post more if you can think of anything.
Kevin Phillips
you wont like it here barbar snownigger
Ryder Taylor
This. Czechia is so much better than pooland.
Chase Wright
Kek Good luck with the language Used to live there but i go back every summer for friends and family. I developed a tiny accent barely noticable but I still get shot for it because I have no one to speak Czech with in this shithole
Cooper Morris
You only have 2 lane roads and like 3 highways. Don't get me started on literally anything else
Ryan Wood
since you're all here, how much cash do you need to live for 10 years in an eastern european shithole? assuming you own an apartment and don't have to pay rent.
Jace Roberts
>I rarely get into police happenings, I've never been arrested and is a pretty nice and law-abiding fellow. yeah, but you will still have to report in at foreign police dept. if you are planning to stay longer than 30 days or you can just ignore it and hope you won't get ID'd during your stay
> I was more thinking with regards to bringing my CZ along apparently its ok for EU citizens who hold legally, but the govt article does not say anything about EEA citizens
>Are people in general good at speaking english? the younger the better in general, older people might not speak English at all
just look up some expat blogs, I'm sure you'll find plenty of other information
Alexander Carter
>always bring some gift, preferably flowers for the woman of the house What type of flower? Wouldn't want too much of a faux pas.
Dominic Gray
Nikdy jsem neměl problém s policií Also you're fucked with the language Start studying like 5 hours a goddamn day and you still wont learn it fully
Nathan Roberts
>have to report in at foreign police dept. if you are planning to stay longer than 30 days cool, this I did not know. >EU citizen vs EEA I checked that, and apparently we (Norway) have some deal in place, so I just need to get a EU weapons passport for my funz (and I need a weapons cabinet if I bring more than one) > expat blogs got any to suggest?
really appreciate you posting this stuff, btw.
Lucas Young
When do you plan on moving? I'm glad to help you with learning I'm fluent in Czech and English if you have a discord or something Also pro tip I have no idea how you're gonna survive if you're not rich, minimum wage jobs are 22czk a year and rent is 7k a month of you're lucky. I'm sure you can survive barely if you really try but it's wild fucking ride since most young people live with their parents until they find someone to move in together with
Noah Perez
>jaktože jsem o nich nikdy neslyšel protože máš občanství řekl bych
Jose Morgan
Girl in Czechland, Ricky Yates just from the top of my head
