Right for the meaning, but concerning the tense I would say "J'ai été marié deux fois" which implies that it's a former reality that is now over. >Elle a insisté qu'il était de ma faute. Here "it" refers to something that is not really determinate. The global sentence let you suggest that it could be something like a mistake you've made or something like that. In a more leaborate way you would say : "Elle a insité pour dire que c'était de ma faute". >Tom ne ressemble absolument pas à son frère.

Well this one is pretty difficult. It's the litterature style, pretty elaborated. So I would translate it like this : "La lumière tombe comme la lumière est tombée, et ce n'est pas clair dans les ombres de l'orme s'il s'agit de nous-même ici, ou d'autre qui étaient là avant nous". Again this one is really difficult. And as our American bro said, an elm is a tree, it translates to "orme" in French.

Yes, you're right, but it's a bit specific right there.
"oeuvre" is feminine if you are talking about some work or action did in order to achieve this work. For example, you'd say "une oeuvre d'art".
"oeuvre" is masculine when related to the global creation of an artist whether it's a painter, an architect, a writer or whatever. Figuratively, "oeuvre" has the meaning of a work of utmost importance, a creation of exceptional value.
In this phrase >I have offended God and mankind because my work did not reach the quality it should have. the correct use is then latter one for the word "oeuvre", because it refers of a work of particular value. As another example, you'd say "un chef-d'oeuvre" and not "unE chef-d'oeuvre".

I'm learning german right now, i've been studying for about two years. The first 3 months I studied grammar exclusively and worried about vocabulary later. During that time I just learned the vocabulary that I needed to progress in grammar understanding. I dedicated a couple hours a day to study, but sometimes I feel like I'm not learning fast enough. I'm probably at about a B1, and engage in conversations with germany friends daily. Overall it's a lot of fun, I love linguistics and grammar, I just wish I had the drive to learn more rigorously.
