Then this and finally this

Part 1

Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Costa Rica used to be a part of New Spain, and later the First Mexican Empire, under the name of "Captaincy General of Guatemala", so while they were a part of us, they had some sort of independence and mostly governed themselves. Costa Rica at that time was the poorest and more sparsely populated region of the Spanish Empire, with hardly any roads connecting them anywhere.

When the independentist movements started in Latin America due to France's invasion of Spain, different civil wars broke out apart from each other; Simon Bolivar in South America (among others), and various independentists in Mexico. However, the Captaincy General of Guatemala remained without much fight, if at all, and the elite of the time decided to secede from Spain without a war.

Later, after a series of betrayals and some retarded decisions by the King of Spain, the elite in the capital of New Spain, in Mexico City, ultimately decided to join the pro-independence forces (despite fighting against it for most of the 10 year long war), and created the First Mexican Empire. Under this new entity, the "Emperor" of Mexico went all the way to the Captaincy General of Guatemala (Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Costa Rica), previously a part of New Spain for 300 years, to ask them if they wanted to join the newly formed "empire": to which the Central American elites, including the governor of everything, agreed; aside from the ruler of El Salvador. But since it was a minority, the plans continued anyway. However, despite the fact that the elites agreed, there were revolts against the idea and some minor civil wars, that didn't involve the government in Mexico City, broke out in Central America.

Meanwhile, back in Mexico City, true independentists weren't happy with the "emperor" and decided to get rid of him in a coup during the first 2 years, and succeeded. So, after the "empire" was disolved, the new republic of Mexico offered the Captaincy General of Guatemala to decide whether to stay with Mexico or not (now that the "empire" no longer existed).

They peacefully voted to go away (except for the territory of Chiapas, who decided to stay in Mexico), and created their own country: the "Federal Republic of Central America", to which Mexico agreed diplomatically and without a fight. However, much like when they joined the empire, the elites in Central America and the people could never agree with each other in anything and the new country quickly descended into multiple civil wars that broke them into the countries they are today.

There were some minor conflicts with Guatemala attempting to recover Chiapas, and such, but it didn't amount to anything and everyone went on with their lives.

>tl:dr
In order, they were: New Spain > First Mexican Empire > Federal Republic of Central America > Current countries

Their entire identities revolve around NOT being Mexico, and that's it.

Now Panama and Belize are different stories.

Belize was made by Britain and wasn't part of the Spanish Empire. Panama was part of Colombia in the 1800s, but the USA wanted to build a canal and Colombia said no, so Americans aided Panamanian rebels if they'd let them build it.

You forgot Los Altos

Thank you for your wisdom.

This was a nice delusion I guess

all look el samo

Isn't Panama just an American proxy that exists so the USA could keep their military bases and control the Panama Canal? Serves them right though, they seem to be extremely rich as for a Central American country

because of the stupid upper class got greedy and broke up in order to rule their own little shitty kingdoms

Yes

Didn't Mexico switch sides because of the SJW revolution in Spain in 1820?

Yeah, royalist did.

Royalists offered the crown of Mexico to Ferdinand VII, but he refused, they later offered the crown to a member of his family, but he also refused, and they ultimately offered to form a commonwealth instead, but he again refused wanting to reconquest everything again. In the end, Iturbide wanted to become "emperor" as the opportunistic prick he was.

How is it to be a country no one even wants to rule?

Ferdinand VII wanted to rule it, just not as an independent country, which is why he lost everything in the end. He tried to invade us a couple of times from Cuba but got btfo.

>be me
>help napoleon invade portugal
>napoleon betrays me and also invades spain
>creoles in the colonies see this as an opportunity to rebel since my family has been fucking with them for centuries with the caste system and the bourbon laws
>thankfully they are losing because of the royalist
>joseph bonaparte becomes the new king of spain
>he installs liberal ideas with the help of the liberal spaniards
>royalists in the colonies see him and the liberals as an enemy and turn in favor of the independence
>royalists sign the independence
>get invited to become emperor of new spain by royalists
>refuse
>rekt all the liberals in Spain and become king again
>get rid of the liberal ideas that would have help the spanish people
>now that they are independent, get invited to form a commonwealth between spain and the ex-colonies
>refuse
>refuse to recognize the independence for decades
>try to invade Mexico once more
>get rekt’d for good
>finally recognize the independence two decades later
>everyone is now poor, weak, divided, in constant civil war and with fears of being invaded by every other power of the time
>spanish empire no longer exists

>that's me
>Ferdinand VII
>the man who lost more than anyone else in history
