West Finns are Germanic in denial. This isn't because they were raped by Swedes though, the connection goes back to the Bronze Age. The only true Finns are Karelians and to a lesser degree Savonians :)

Finland was formed from various ethnicities who then mixed. Some were Germanic, some were Baltic, some were Finnic/Mongolic.

The language and culture became the unifying thing, not heritage as West Finns and East Finns are even now more distant from each other than typical German is from Anglo
