My father recently remarried a duel citizen American/Panamanian
My father hates trump and is considering retirement in Panama
I might go down with him I am currently in a trade school to become an electrician. Is that going to be valuable in Panama? should I consider moving to Panama?
Any info on the country appreciated
Though mainly about living/working immigrating to Panama
It's pretty good, probably a better place than the USA, you just need to get used to the tropical weather and humidity. Kinda as if you moved to Singapore or Hong Kong

relaciando, un poco
es un titulo de universidad de canadiense tener valour en latin america?
yes, but you need to "homologar" (don't know how to say this in english), your title
It is. Not everything is about money and even then Panama is the most developed and richest country in Latam behind Puerto Rico
Jeremiah Smith
How is Panama better than the US in any way?
Nathan Wilson
but america is a beautiful place.
they only have a few shitholes surronded by nice areas, while latam have a few nice towns/cities surrounded by shitholes

Are Americans or westerners desired by companies above natives?
Jace Cruz
It's just my personal appreciation. I believe that a lot of the things going on at the moment in the usa are quite toxic for the personal development of a person
you are right, that's exactly why I said tht it is not about money. People are warmer in latam and that plays a huge role in the daily lives of most of us

If you have the skills, then yes. I met once a man from North Dakota, probably the whitest person I've ever met. He had norwegian last name and looked like Hitler's wet dreams. He lived in a literal lower middle class neighborhood in my city, it baffled me and he was making about the same money as any other professional here. He was an english teacher, commuted by bycicle and had been robbed 4 times at knifepoint, kek. I guess he just likes adventure and living on the edge

Gabriel Green
Si, de hecho Scotiabank aca es gigante (acban de comrar a citibank en mi pais) y es canadiense. Podrias encontrar algun trabajo facilmente y como economista debes ganar bien
Joseph Sanders
yes most of the people here don't have any degree at all. so if you have one you made it.
David Johnson
no soy economisto, solo tengo bachelors.
en serio? universidad en argentina es gratis, no?
Ian Cruz
yes, but anyways very little people have university studies
Jonathan Lopez
>My father hates trump why?
Kayden Bennett
raro, por que?
Jose Clark
i don't really know why. i guess a lot of people simply don't like to study.
because almost everyone sign up to study engienering or medical school or whatever, and after a few monts they quit.
i guess high scool here is shit so nobody is prepared to the university

Here that sort of jobs is done by people with a very little formation. In other words, electricians tend to be more empirical. This is changing slowly though. With the opening of institutions like ITSE (google: Instituto Técnico Superior Especializado if you are interested) this occupation will be done by more prepared workers. My opinion is that you come with a good preparation, I bet you would do great since your competition won't be as educated and thus you would do a job of a better quality.
I have heard colon is a terrible city What are the best and worst cities in Panama in your opinion
Jason Collins
Well. Definitely, Panama city has the best parts if by best you mean wealthier. Also depending on the definition of city you are using. Panama might very well be the only example of one in the country. None of the other towns get anywhere near half a million people. So if you are looking for an urban lifestyle, the capital is the only option. Pic related is a map I made. It is pretty inaccurate but I guess it gives you a general idea. The rest of the country as I was saying is pretty much rural with some towns here and there like David, Chitré, Penonomé or Santiago. Which are pretty comfy (safe, calm, decent infrastructure) albeit their small size. In the capital, you have a very nice infrastructure and all kinds of services but it also has more slums and violence. Colón is like you get the worst parts of Panama city and put them together into a small town.
Having said that. the best cities for me are as follows. 1. Panama 2. Chitre 3. David 4. Is a tie between Santiago and Penonomé 5. Any small mountain town (Boquete, Volcá, Valle de Antón, etc), just because the weather is nice.
The worst are: 1. Colón. Easily the worst one. The only one I strongly recommend to stay out of its center. 2. Any small town in the Darien province. It is actually advised to stay away from that province since it is near the border with Colombia and that part of Colombia is kind of dangerous. But I went recently and it didn't look too bad. 3. Chorrera is pretty ugly. 4. Changuinola, Almirante, Puerto Armuelles. These are not violent or anything but it is just a sad case of syndicates. They used to have a lot of industry and work but now they are pretty poor.
>a sad case of syndicates gone wrong. I meant to say.

Are Panamanians in general friendly towards Americans? Dose it vary with class I know Panama had some political dissent over the return of the canal
Aiden Jones
Yeah. I guess there are some people here that have some animosity towards Americans. But right now that is a minority. I really think Panama is one of the most Americanized countries in LatAm.
