But Iceland is quite literally more ethnically norwegian than we are at this point. The 600 years under denmark was just an extenstion of Norway being under denmark, it wasn't because the danes actually did anything for iceland or considered them a proper part of denmark. Also Norwegian is much closer to icelandic than danish is, so it would probably be much easier for them to learn norwegian.

Iceland was settled by norwegian farmers, and since then has been very isolated throughout history since there's no real reason to go there seeing as there's very little natural resources or reason at all to travel that far north. Never heard of there being settlers from british isles, what's your source on that?
