60's-70's we really didn't have homeless people and unemployed. Homeless people on American streets were used to scare kids, because they were simply unheard of, as for NEETs, well being NEET was literally illegal.
The USSR was shit in plenty of other ways, but those two were some of the few things it had going for it.

During the 1980 Olympics, Moscow police went around rounding up homeless bums and loafers who should have been at work/school and were instead hanging out in parks, chess clubs, and bathhouses.

Kazakh user said in his home town, they rounded up disabled WWII vets and put them in an asylum/facility for the disabled because it was an embarrassment to have guys with missing limbs hobbling around the streets begging for handouts when there were foreign visitors. Some gratitude shown for the sacrifices those guys made in the war.
