My cousin lives in Johannesburg and he says it's a paradise (he used to live in several European countries + South Korea). He makes western-tier wage (IT), while his living costs are very low comparing to typical first world countries, so he can easily rent a big house in a decent upper middle class suburb, hire a maid, buy a nice car etc., also he says work-life balance in SA is great, comparing to South Korea especially, he feels like he's on vacation all the time, not at work.
