Forest has now burned causing the monetary losses amounting to 600 million Swedish moneys (SEK) as has been estimated.

This is most serious burn since early 1980s.

The fires are more intense because there has not rained water for weeks and air temperatures have reached +30 degrees C.

Today there was heavy but warm winds spreading the fires further.

At the Wednesday night and Thursday morning, hundreds of rural people have been evacuated from forest villages.

Firemen have to use gasmasks on some areas.

In Ljusdjal county, the burning area is 55 kilometers wide.
