btw why don't you just use jap subs? I feel like this sort defeats the purpose with eng subs

Don't worry I usually stick to jap subs only, but I sometimes turn eng subs on if I'm unsure.

What do I do with all these smug pictures then

>覚えてる?
>パパやママと一緒になって、笑えない冗談でもりあがったあげく、
>最後には知らんぷりしてた、あんたの顔。
I'm not sure if it's grammatically possible but can the 一緒になって be treated as separate from the next clause (or at least not meaning them laughing at bad jokes with their parents) ? Cause I'm seeing it as them being scolded by them instead (知らんぷり feels weird here otherwise).

I don’t get your idea.
What I guess is the speaker is swearing at her mean sibling because the sibling has bullied her with her abusing parents and took no notice of (知らんぷりをする)the speaker’s suffering.

>Seems like they mistook the そう.
No. but there is not such a part like "once again" in "私の命を助けてくださったそうですね".
maybe "once again" explains other context that isn't shown in the pic, though.

But, the “そう” should have been translated into “I heard” in this context I think.

>I heard
it is almost the same as "it seems", right?

I have a rougher idea of the sliding scale in which information is obtained
the weakest to strongest:
だろう
らしい
みたい
English will not give you this amount of nuance about how far away the information was obtained. 'I heard' vs 'seems' vs 'looks like' vs 'appears' vs 'apparently' will be 五十歩百歩.

“It seems “ sounds like「助けてくださったよう(みたい)ですね」,so the fact of “someone other told her of his rescuing her” is dropping I think. Or, the English phrase of “it seems” is a synonym of “I heard so” in effect? I am not sure though.

>'I heard' vs 'seems' vs 'looks like' vs 'appears' vs 'apparently' will be 五十歩百歩.
Oh I see, thanks.
English is quite a difficult language though..

some time ago I was talking about how I don't understand how the 連用形 + は gets used or what exactly the nuance is in such a case in contrast to other possible formulations
now I found some example

from LoGH
for context, some unimportant army officer talks about an anti-war activist (Jessica Edwards) and says the following
>「吾々の苦労も知らないで、言いたいことを言ってますな、この女史は。銀河帝国の侵略をうけたら、反戦平和も言論の自由もありはしないのに、いい気なものです」

これは聖書じゃない、この異教者め!

Attached: 1500697414554.jpg (377x325, 24K)

I'm not sure I understand you. Further context was her criticizing them feigning ignorance now like they how they did in the past

I googled whole text and what I knew
>a girl who had been merged with a monster
>another girl who is a ghost and haunting the former girl
>they are close friend
>the protagonist can impregnate the human girl
>who the hell are the "Papa and Mama"
and a sentence which a native wrote to me
>like they how they did in the past

Attached: papamama.jpg (360x270, 19K)

So, パパやママと一緒になって for sure is part of でりあがった? Translating literally, something like: "you took part in all the mean jokes about me with our parents yet you always pretended to not know in the end"?

(3) verb

>"you took part in all the mean jokes about me with our parents yet you always pretended to not know in the end"
Yes basically I think so.
but why did you translate it as
>our parents
?
Is Piko a dead sibling of Dolche?
Or Piko had already haunted Dolche when Dolches parents were still alive and they had treated Piko like their another child?

Attached: HotVN.jpg (797x233, 51K)

Attached: ScreamForBeer.jpg (1280x720, 54K)

The latter.
I pulled the official translation (but it seems wrong here, or at least they changed the writing substantially): "Remember when Mama and Papa were still alive, and we pulled all sorts of little practical jokes together?"
"You would always pretend you had no idea what they were talking about when they scolded us, just like now."

Attached: 1424888203625.jpg (420x300, 13K)

>they changed the writing
Yes it seems so.

Attached: dolche.jpg (480x288, 163K)

The dialogue is relatively simple (so is the story to understand), and it's probably the first thing I've read/played where I'm not pausing every ten lines or so to figure it out. But then there's weird lines (to me) like that, or for example here:
>ピコ『ルーちゃん! こ、このスケスケの 水着をぜひがごがががっ!』
>主人公「そ、それでも水着は離さない……。」
which are kinda hard to understand situationally.

Attached: 1424991088776.png (417x500, 155K)

And could I ask what did you mean by this??
>>like they how they did in the past
a typo?

Attached: RealMan.jpg (795x506, 104K)

>>ピコ『ルーちゃん! こ、このスケスケの 水着をぜひがごがががっ!』
>>主人公「そ、それでも水着は離さない……。」
Piko attempted to have Dolche put on that see-through swimwear, then Dolche beat Piko but Piko didn't drop the lewd wear. Right?

540 posts in 12 hours, almost all of it mindless shitposting. How did this come to be?

Attached: post count.png (800x600, 154K)

4-5 dedicated shtposters is all you need

Why is /djt/ on /jp/ such a shitfest? It's like 15 IQ points lower than this one. Makes me feel less 出来ない when I go there and see a dumbass struggling 3 years just to learn hiragana.
I'm gonna do my reps now.

only 15? that feels pretty insulting

Attached: 1479915526599.jpg (622x621, 54K)

A few shitposters took up camp and converted thread culture to one of useless shitposting. People here certainly aren't any more proficient and I feel the same when I see posts like these. And there is a good deal of shitposting here as well. DJT is not a good place to visit, no matter which board.

Fucking correct them then you useless cunt.

Heh, I have more reviews than the meme picture.

Attached: 51.png (691x355, 100K)

>98%
Weak

I definitely studied every day. It gives me less day because my sleeping schedule is extremely variable meaning I do reviews in the evening, sometimes in the morning, sometimes at midnight. That comes with changing Anki's new day reset time and it retroactively adjusts all reviews on previous days to the day they fall into with the new time.

Attached: djt16.jpg (800x600, 251K)

Oh no, the OP one is definitely better. Mine looks all weird because of the spike.

STATS DONT LIE

I thought so too, I'm guessing she wants it away from her face but the other girl is still holding on to it.
>like how they did in the past
like how they used to feign ignorance in the past. I wasn't clear here, sorry.

>the fucking strong

Are you saying my post was a shitpost? I'm not sure why you included the japanese guy and me in your post.

He is pretty desperate if he thinks that was a shitpost
Now THIS is a shitpost

what's a good game for learning japanese i can buy on steam and that doesn't allow me to cheat by switching to english

>reading manga
>character using antiquated diction because author thought it would be more literary
Yay! What does Jow Forums do at times like this? Should I mine it? I have to say if some foreigner came here speaking shakespeare era english I'd want them as a best friend.
Same question for excessively formal, literary, or antiquated Japanese. What do? Other than read a more normal manga.

>came here speaking shakespeare era english

'thou' and 'thee' was considered informal and 'you' was formal though, and shakespeare's characters used it correctly.
So I don't know what you mean by 'more normal'.

i prefer a gaijin with quaint Japanese

Are you not pressing hard a bit much? I can relate but don't be afraid to let cards mature.

I press hard if it took more than 5 seconds to remember everything
maybe its too harsh idk

>Why is /djt/ on /jp/ such a shitfest?
I don't know why people are trying to destroy it but for some reason the only moderation it receives is when someone makes a thread with the "wrong" title or at random points in time when a post appears to personally offend the deranged meido/janitor, based on the warosu archives.
For example:
warosu.org/jp/thread/S19392461

I get that moot never liked /jp/ but I don't really understand why they let it turn to complete shit like it has. How can the goonsquad remain so spiteful after all these years? Cleaning up that board would take barely any effort on their behalf but they can't even be bothered to do that.

>How can the goonsquad remain so spiteful after all these years

Weapons-grade autism. As long as they stay in their containment board it's fine though.

>As long as they stay in their containment board it's fine though
Imagine if jamal came here for a while. I'd rather have the spammer that was shitting up the japanese thread awhile back

Attached: 986675765.jpg (1716x1447, 486K)

I remember when people actually posted lines from VNs, manga panels, etc., looking for help and having people answer that were genuinely knowledgeable. Two that I had bookmarked just cause I found them helpful (at the time) being:
warosu.org/jp/thread/S17443072#p17447216
warosu.org/jp/thread/S17663879#p17670417
Maybe it's just my delusion, but I felt like the /jp/ thread then (last year) was a lot more productive than it is now. A change of culture, a different wave of users replacing the old ones (that knew Japanese)? It certainly wasn't because of less moderation anyways.
(this will be the last time I don't mess up my post)

>(this will be the last time I don't mess up my post)
it's just not my day, is it

My Anki has started to rate some words as “matured”. Nevertheless I don’t feel like they got permeated into my brain sufficiently. Does Anki rate any words just because they have existed in the deck for a certain period of time?

Attached: 53B574AB-9DE6-4322-8C01-02D549FF01FD.jpg (392x375, 39K)

>Does Anki rate any words just because they have existed in the deck for a certain period of time?
They mature when they have been answered correctly enough times so they won't show up again until after 21 days(default setting).
