Russians wanted to conquer this territory and not create an independent Bulgarian kingdom, that much is true. Their plans went wrong in 1885 with Unification, and they withdrew all their support because they knew Serbs would attack us.

Fact: life under Ottomans meant we could own private property, land, animals, start businesses, earn and save money. Meanwhile Russians were literal serfs that subsisted on propaganda.
