2. What is the mathematical knowledge of highschool students when they finish highschool in your country?

2. Derivative and basic solid geometry.
Algebra, Trig identities, basic concepts of vectors, all the arithmetic up to logarithms and exponents, solving equations and drawing graphs in cartesian coordinates.
Everything else like calculus, complex numbers, matrices has been removed to raise the test scores.
Oh yeah also geometry with all the triangle proofs and shit. But they teach that in middle school.
I thought asians were good at maths. Do you do integrations?
>I thought asians were good at maths
Lmao no.
>integrations
Yes.
Do Frogs still do it? How come your politicians haven't had the brilliant idea that the key to raising scores in math finals is removing material from the course and dumbing it down?
People really learn this in high school? Looks like chinese
Math level in france in the 70's-80's was so high even though politicians have simplified the programs we still have a somehow decent level in math. But they don't teach about sets, vectorial spaces or even integration by parts.
1st degree integration
Never went in S? It's basic trigonometric identities. I think developing (e^ix+e^-ix)^6 can be tricky but otherwise it's not that difficult.
Never went to high school and I even struggle to do fractions, the thing you learn in primary school
I finished with calculus but others can finish with calculus 2.
A Final year student in one of the natural science courses of highschool stops at about combinatorics and euler
here is the basic math
try to solve some examples
it's russian but you still can get some results

I see you use degrees on trigonometry? Why not radians?
>Never went to high school
littéralement moi
>Looks like chinese
It's literally just algebra with complex numbers. They used to teach it in high school here too.
Well, we've dropped so much of the curriculum that it is literally impossible to apply to a foreign university with a Latvian high school degree. If you want your kid to study in a good uni you have to shell out a couple thousand € to get them some sort of international standard education.
Result is only richfags send their kids to decent schools.
It depends where you go to school. In private schools you learn a whole shitton.
In public schools you can learn a shitton if you're in a good school and you take advanced classes.
I think most students don't learn much though.
I did an MSc in Math but my highschool was a really nice public one. I couldn't imagine embarking on that if I hadn't been from fortunate circumstances.

It depends if you were studying in a public school or in a private one. Some private schools don't teach you integrals, matrices, imaginary numbers, etc. While public schools teach you those things along with more complex subjects. But generally, these subjects aren't taught well, people tend to not comprehend their teachers.
But if we are talking in general, you are taught the basics of geometry, trigonometry, and algebra.
You are taught the basics that you "need" in order to survive in college. In most of the cases, school education isn't enough for this, and thus a lot of people tend to get into academies that can offer a better insight into maths.
In conclusion, most people tend to have a shit knowledge of maths when they end school, and they have to make up by wasting more money in other institution.
Trigonometry, measure 3d objects, polinomials and theoretically we should learn derivatives but I never did.
It's mostly the same thing here in Brazil.
>But they don't teach about sets, vectorial spaces or even integration by parts.
You don't need this for highschool man.
I'd rather teach them about programming. And programming uses 2 of those concepts anyway.
Some BR told a joke on here.
An American mathematician goes to france and asks the children "What is 4 + 2?" The kids answer "2 + 4, commutative identity."
