Most people here don't really need to learn english, since they are too poor to leave the country someday and they don't need it on their job. Besides that, people here seem to think that learning a second language requires too much effort and that they'll never really learn it.

Only people in Mexico who learn English are kids who attend private schools, or until they reach university, and even then, most university students just learn the "The big blue house" basics of English for their course credits and then don't bother to keep studying the language.

I was one of those lucky, wealthy kids who attended a private primary school, so I began learning English since I was 6.
Basically, if you speak English in Mexico, you're most likely medium-high class.
