Do people in your country own summer cottages and spend their time there during the summer? Virtually everyone I know here does.

Yep.
If they're not one of the downtrodden lower middle class/lower class/underclass, yes
Yup.
yep. same here
A lot of Dutch people I know own houses in France, Spain and Italy. But it's not the norm. Most people already go on vacation once or twice a year, so there is no need.
Post Swedish summer cottages
Yeah, I'm spending four weeks at my parents' vacation home starting next week. It's been in our family for over 300 years and it's located in the middle of nowhere right next to a fjord, so there's no neighbors, no running water, no internet and the mobile signal is blocked by the mountains most of the time. It's really nice to go there and disconnect from modern society every once in a while.
How do you wash without running water? Just get a tub of water from the river?
We call it going to the countryside.
>How do you wash without running water?
Me and my family just wash in the lake. It's summer anyways.
There's a small stream nearby that we use to wash ourselves, we also have a hiking showers and bring loads of water with us for drinking.
owning a summer cottage is more of an upper maybe upper middle class thing here. Renting them is common and very doable for families and groups of friends.

Like the other Swede said, just wash in the nearby river/lake etc.
It's very relaxing going back to basics.
My parents summer cottage has no electricity, no running water, no modern toilet.
Just a ground well, outhouse etc. The only modern thing we have is a single solar panel for charging our phones.
>smear body and hair with shampoo
>dive into lake/fjord
>Do people in your country own summer cottages and spend their time there during the summer?
Yes we do. I'm there right now.

Looks like archipelago cottage
Been cleaning for a few hours, went and got a few new carpets as well.
Would live here my entire life if I didn't have to work.
Arent you scared being alone there?
mmm mosquitoes
>Looks like archipelago cottage
It is. Swedes love to build around water.
Here where I live it's really common to build cabins/summer houses on small islands.
Maximum comfort.
My mother couldn't go with me if my father didn't come as well when I was a child because she was scared of the dark woods and all that, but then I grew up and now she feels safe with me.
i taught my mum how to wield an axe so now she can go alone with the dog and keep an axe under the bed just in case
lol
These things are quite popular among younger people these days. Pretty cheap as well, around 6000 Euro for pic related.
I might follow the trend and buy one next summer.
A lot of people do. Especially those who live in the city, but have roots from rural areas, so they use their grandparents' house or something.
Do it, they are top comfy.
Yeah, it's certainly also a Northeast N.A. thing. I don't know about the rest of the continent.
in the building register.. are they counted for as houses, or boats? legit interested
Is it illegal to have cottage/sauna right next to lake in Sweden? You can't build them to close proximity here anymore for some retarded reasons
>sinks your floating cottage while you're asleep
heh, nothing personnel..kid
we have the same bullshit here. the limit is 15 meters from water. you used to be allowed to build how ever near you wanted, but not now so the cottages really close to water are more precious
Floating vehicle/raft. So pretty much a boat.
At least for insurance.
Nah it's legal here.
I'd say 80% of summer houses are located next to a lake or river here.
My sauna is on the waters edge.
It's legal here finnbro.
My area is full of saunas pretty much touching the water.
Like pic related.
this savonian BVLL cottage > modern soulless glass cottages
Damn I really want my own little island.
Cheaper than buying an apartment in my city..
15 meters here as well. And yeah you should definitely invest to cottages right next to water.
