I remember this day. I woke up to my mother telling me that there was an attack on the twin towers (9/11 is teacher's day so we dont' go to school). I was in awe, and I remember the reporters were in awe too.
The government declared red alert, reinforcing every embassy or american building that could be targeted by a terrorist. They later reduced it to level orange and kept it for a month.
Newfags don't know how big that moment was.

I don't remember the news, but I was at primary school and it closed earlier, my mom went to pick me up and while rushing to our house she told me the US has been attacked. I was like "well yeah, is kinda far from here anyway" but I didn't have homework and I spent the rest of the day watching TV and playing with my Pokemon toys.

Imagine how big it was here. The next two days the teachers discussed it with us in class, we talked about who could have done it and why, and the classes were changed to talk about terrorism, which back then wasn't a big deal. Even unrelated classes like math they just let us talk the entire time while watching the news, it was insane. I remember like two weeks later there was an unrelated plane accident in the USA, and everyone speculated that it was another terrorist attack. Turned out to be mechanical problems, but we didn't know that at the time.
After the government determined bin Laden did it, there was so much nationalism and rallying for war. I got swept up in it myself. I've often wondered if I would have joined the Army had I been older.

i remember it vividly, i was watching play school, my favourite show, then suddenly it stopped, and was replaced by a news report about some towers or something idk. my parents also seemed upset when they came in after complaining about it to them, they were just staring at the television screen in shock.
but i sat patiently, waiting for it to go away, but when it went back to scheduled broadcasting, the credits were running.
a very sad day, i never got to see the rest of that episode.
