We do it too, but it's not as spectacular
Basically a becomes e, Virginia is Virginie, Lousiana is Louisiane, etc
Also the eastern/north etc that you can find in some states names are translated but it doesn't look as exotic as Polish translation because of the similarities between English and French

We write it how we say it. It's really not that weird of a concept. Some of the names are more polonized than others (Luizjana being written exactly how you'd say it in English while Waszyngton isn't).
