I had to take some liberties when translating into english. Only your last one is truly 'wrong'. You should not let 'd-t' mistakes get to you. Partly because they are really common. Sterke werkwoorden are a gift. Granted that you studied them. But if the sound changes when you change tense. Loop -> liep. Zwerf -> zwierf You never add that t

No, but it is one of the times where dative is used (in German anyway), I'll give a tldr of them: 1. If you can construct a sentence in English like "I'm verbing pronoun a noun" (I'm buying you an apple/I'm building my dad a house etc) then the pronoun or whatever goes there is dative and the noun is accusative. These are referred to as indirect objects 2. Some prepositions always result in a dative noun (see: image 3. Two way prepositions are dative when movement is NOT involved, e.g.
Die Katze liegt auf dem Tisch = dative because the cat is just lying there Ich lege die Katze auf den Tisch = accusative because I'm moving the cat onto the table Ich gehe in den Laden = accusative because I'm going to the store Wir sind im Laden = dative because we're just in the store, still no movement involved
I didn't really learn dative formally and just constructed these rules for myself over time but they seem to be consistently correct
Anyone versed on the Iranian languages? Could someone tell me about the northwestern branch? Specifically wheither or not Median or Parthian are still spoken today? Like are Kurdish or Baluchi direct descendants of these languages?

I may be wrong but I believe that the majority of languages with a case system have some form of dative. The Romanian dative corresponds with "who?" followed by verbs such as "to (dis)like", and with " to whom?"

Most commonly learned (non native) language with a dative case as far as I know. Russian also has dative and far more speakers but I doubt as many people are learning it so you won't see it as discussed as much.

They are used a lot here in the highlands of Guatemala. Kaqchikel, Tzutuhil, and Quiché. There are about 25 different languages here in Guatemala. But, a lot of the kids are not learning the old languages. It is not easy. The words vary from one village to the next. Guatemala had a program that inhibited and discouraged the use of the indigenous languages for a very long time. Now that has changed and they want to preserve them.
