You put half and half in coffee and it smooths it out. Not enough to save a bad roast, but it does cover up a multitude of sins.

Milk brings out subtle flavours that you don’t notice if you’re just having it black.
You only need sugar if you live in London, water down there is fucking diabolical

I come from small town Ontario, and for the longest time I put milk in my tea and thought nothing of it, seemed normal and everyone did it. It was only when I went off to university and drank tea with milk, all the Chinese students looked at me like I was from another planet. I can get not putting milk in green tea, but common black tea... it just was meant to be.

We usually use maple syrup, honey is good too though
