Bangladesh used to be a secular country like India. But due to intense Saudi pressure (sanctions, threatening to not let their citizens into the country to make Hajj), they were forced to change their Constitution in the 90's to make Islam the official religion. It's still one of the more "moderate" Muslim countries, but that's rapidly changing. It'll be another Pakistan within 20 years.

"Faith runs deeper than blood" is pan-Islamic saying among Muslims in India/Pakistan. The intention being that if war breaks out between India and Pakistan, the Muslims in India should sabotage India's war efforts.
