I had been learning Finnish for a year during my stay in there.

After a while it stops sounding so cute due to hearing it all the time. If you are working in an international community everyone speaks in English and it becomes even less necessary to use it. Even in shops both you and people you are communicating with start using English as it is more convenient for both sides. During my whole stay I have experienced only once interacting with a man who is not able to speak English.

TL;DR it is not very necessary to learn Nordic languages let alone Finnish, if you don't plan to stay in there 5+ years.
