Anyone lived in Singapore before?
I got a job there and I'm not sure whether I should be happy or sad

You will go from a Paki shithole with daily stabbings, acid attacks, child grooming cases, Polish thiefs, Islamist terror and 70IQ chavs to a hypermodern, hypersafe, hyperorganised country with a competent government.
I know a few people who worked there. It's a very safe and clean place, but work life is more demanding than other places.
Just don't chew gum Actually Singapore is pretty 1984 so you'll feel just like home and expect asians, both kinds
Depends. Which industry and where are you gonna be staying?
It's an academic position at NTU. Looks like the place is in the middle of nowhere so I'll probably stay somewhere more central
just don't do drugs.
Disneyland with the death penalty
looks awesome
You'll be happy for the first month, after that you'll get bored. Singapore is very small and you can tour the whole country in 1 day. Also, don't be surprise if you met lot of rude people there. But you're white so maybe singaporean will worship you like a god.
The area around NTU is generally pretty working class, lots of poorer Singaporeans and blue collar immigrants from the rest of the region (I fucking live there). If you want to be around more of "your kind", then yes the central would be a more familiar environment.
Regardless, academia is academia. It shouldn't be too different from what you're used to.
You might need a while to get used to the local accent, which varies quite wildly depending on the speaker's level of English.
Mostly true, unfortunately. Especially the part about you possibly getting preferential treatment because of your race. If you get jaded, you should make it a game where you try to say the most ridiculous BS to local girls and get away with it because of your accent.
Sigh. What a cucked nation.
they have twice as many muslims as we do
How did you get a job there?
Thanks. I don't necessarily want to live in a place where I'll be surrounded by other white people, just wanted to avoid living somewhere boring. It looks like commute times from NTU to the city are quite bad, so might settle for something halfway.
>middle of nowhere
I didn't know Singapore had a middle of nowhere. It's just one dense city-state isn't it?
Literally just saw an opening and applied. They invest quite a lot to bring in foreign talent, so the salaries they offer are quite good and it's easier to get a job there than in many other countries.
Where did you see that opening, like were you actively looking for something outside the UK?
The thing is, you probably won't need to travel to the city very much after a while, aside from the occasional drink or dinner with friends. There's a huge mall not too far from NTU that has everything you need.
If you want some place halfway between NTU and the city, Buona Vista is pretty nice. Lots of expats and upper middle class amenities and rent is not terribly high.
Well, relatively a middle of nowhere
Asian mudslimes are quite different.
I've seen lots of vidoes on singaporean (chinese primarily) acting rudely at other people. I feel kinda afraid to go there. They can burst anytime they want if they feel like they wanted to....I dunno user, please don't be like them...
But they are peaceful chink muslims. Singapore is safe as fuck, just don't smoke the herbal jew and you're good.
Indonesian muslims are harmless
>were you actively looking for something outside the UK?
Yes. I'm in academia so many of the jobs advertised online are abroad, although I did also make an effort to actually get in touch with people who work in Asia/Australia and get advice about openings there. But generally you can find them through publicly available channels because, as I said, countries like Singapore are actively looking for foreign talent in many areas.
Good to know, thanks.
We don't take religion seriously. Unfortunately some zealous fags listened to a few salafists "preach and woke" vid and literally became wahhabits and spread extremist idea here.
Why are Dutch posters so fucking aggressive?
Does loosing your hair and being irrelevant really make you that miserable?
Well obviously people only film extraordinary events and upload them on YouTube. Not representative of the Singaporean Chinese community at all. That being said, however, Singaporean Chinese tend to make up the majority of assholes here because:
a. there's more of us here than any other ethnic group
b. we are (on average) more well to do than the other local races and you know, rich entitled assholes exist everywhere
Generally speaking though, I'd say that Singaporeans are colder than Malaysians. This is coming from someone who spent the first few years of his life in Johor and had quite a lot of Malaysian friends when studying abroad.
lmao I once saw a video of some faggy, dyel Chinese guy in Singapore yelling at some Malay dudes on the train. Why don't Chinese in Singapore like Malaysians?
Singapore is literally a giant fucking shopping centre surrounded by poorer neighbourhoods that prop up said shopping centre.
>Why don't Chinese in Singapore like Malaysians?
Because they thought that malaysians are dumb as hell.
My aunt used to have a singaporean co-worker back in early 90's and she was a telemarketer. At first the singaporean girl told my aunt that she hated malaysian because all of them are dumb. My aunt was like "bitch what? You have a retarded accent and you call us dumb?' Anyway fast forward 5 months later, my aunt made lots of sales for the company while the singaporean girl barely got any sales...S'pore girl got deported to other department while my aunt got lots of bonus from her sales. My aunt had an anglo dude as a boss and his name is " eric sheridan". This story really sticks in my head for some reason..
>Rich assholes
Argh...Now i see why..
Malay is an ethnic group.
Malaysian is a nationality.
Not all Malays are Malaysians, and vice versa.
There's some racism from the Chinese towards the Malays, but that's somewhat dying out with the younger generation. Malays tend to be the ones from lower socioeconomic strata, so I'm sure there's a parallel from your own country you can use to compare why some Chinese people are racist towards Malays (e.g. perceived low intelligence, that sort of thing).
>Dutch
Jurong East will be a good place for you to rent a place to stay.
If I were prematurely balding people would mistake me for a Briton
Have you lived/been there? It does seem like a good option.
