Humanities and arts are great, a world without them is a bleak place to live in. However modern humanities and arts students have largely embraced marxism. Even the minuscule exposure to mathematics that undergrad psych majors take (which is statistics, not even calculus) should have made it abundantly clear that the Earth is warming at a faster rate. Once you throw in calculus/differential equations/dynamics it becomes even more evident, but those aren't necessary to see the superficial relationship between human activity and the earth heating up.

The problem is that unis are incentivized to increase admissions (read: dumb things down) and liberal arts have a reputation of being easy subjects, meaning these fields get flooded with brainlets who further ruin its prestige. Raising standards so that only those with the top ~1-2% SAT scores can major in the field would greatly ameliorate its reputation and hopefully cut down on the tumblr-tier charlatanry that American unis seem to spawn.

What? I don't think you know many actual professional artists because they are nothing like that picture. Most artists aren't "sjw" types at all and at most are kinda center-liberal or center-conservative.

They also just aren't very easy to make money off of (minus art and MAYBE law IF you get into a very very good school) and with college degrees costing tens of thousands of dollars most people would rather just learn about history or literature online rather than from college professors.

He didn't blame them or tell them that they're awful shit letdowns, he said "hey bucko, I see you're not in a place you really want to be metaphysically, but that's not worth stewing over - here's where you could be if you just straighten your back and dab on the haters" (roughly speaking)

Meanwhile a lot of those who are upset about him aren't really doing the same kind of positive outreach to that demographic, in fact quite the opposite from what I've seen.

Depends on where he works and what he does. Lots of humanities majors don't work in humanities (which is a major reason why those degrees are unpopular).

A priest who majored in religion has a very different day than a graphics designer making images for educational software than some dude drawing furry porno commissions than the guy who got the legendary cushy tenure track history position.

You may not need those people but it's their decision to study whatever they want. They could be "gender communism studies" majors, as you put it, or they could just be normal, well-adjusted men and women that feel like putting the artistic side of humanity into perspective.
You don't need culture either but it makes you who you are.

humanities should be renamed into hobbies
kiddies should be taught that they gotta plant before they sow, work before they can do their hobbies
we all have hobbies, but economy doesnt work on hobbies, hobbies are for spending currency, work is for earning currency

this way, a lot of the kiddies will realize that humanities is something for when you are in your 50ies have have life savings, something for when you are nearing pension to get into, not something to start out in
