Or, you could consider that Normans were the assimilated ones, since they adopted our language, customs and institutions. Its true that most french canadians are rarely fat and generally better looking than anglo girls. outside of montreal though they are trashy as fuck. tats everywhere, poverty and not cultured like the real french are. granted, english canada has the same thing with a mix of wannabe american hilbilly culture but half the rural folks you find nice religious girls and people are generally nicer.

It's because of the filles du roi (daughters of the king). The French Crown needed to populate Québec and so he selected women (average age 24) to send to the colony. These habd picked women were needed to entice the men of the colony, who otherwise were likely to return to France after having completed contracts or made their fortunes, into quick marriage and as many children as possible.
Only a very attractive woman could ensure that a man would forsake his homeland and gladly settle in a wild colony, to breed as much as possible. As a result Québec recieved the cream of the crop from France's lower orders.
This is in large part why Québecoise are among the most beautiful women in the world. Madonna and Angelina Jolie both trace their heritage to the filles du roi for example.

I hate to say it but this is surprisingly true, I'm from a big city so I had never experienced this, but when I was in a pub in a small town relatively close to the New Brunswick border, a bunch of guys starting fighting two guys just because they heard them speaking English. But the weird thing was that it wasn't at all vicious or malevolent, it was "fun" (i.e. people were having a laugh), like a local tradition or something to that effect.
Though, maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like this also happens with rural anglos in places such as the Maritimes, because the anglos (presumably from nearby, probably New Brunswick) didn't seem too phased by it all.
