They don't use many of those at all
Also the Japanese did their own simplification after WWII
but it was less drastic than the Mainland Chinese

Mainland Chinese simplification works in patterns a lot, like for example 言 → 讠, which means everywhere where you can see 言 as a character component, it gets replaced by 讠
thus 話 → 话; 語 → 语; 誰 → 谁
