Britain paid more into the EU than they took out. They contributed greatly to the refugee crisis and were a great asset to the EU in many other different ways.

Poland on the other hand is a racist xenophobic shithole that didn't help at all with the refugees. They take more money out than they contribute and they bitch about everything Brussels does.

You forgot that economy is not a zero sum game. Germany is the EU's greatest beneficiary despite being the biggest net payer. Why? Because the EU provides a gigantic free trade zone for German exports and supply chains. Without the EU the German trade would be tariff'd into oblivion by protectionist national governments.

Not only that, the entire ESA uses French Guiana for all its operations (supposedly it's better than even Houston due to being closer to the equator or something). Which means that if the British want to continue their own independent space program after Brexit, they'll need to find some appropriate land for construction and then build a new, operational station.

The ESA is losing out, but nowhere near the point where they can suddenly no longer operate.
