Incredibly true, but if NATO falls apart, I think Canada would be the worst off since they'd be off forming PESCO and the USA can defend itself. It's in Trudeau's best interest to put pressure on Europe to pay the 2% GDP NATO target simply for Canada's sake, because you guys would be the odd man out (and I wouldn't want to see that)

It's an informal treaty, but perhaps it would be better if it were official. While we certainly supported anti-colonial efforts in South America in the 19th century and """defended"""" South America from communism in the 20th century (by promoting capitalist dictators), France still owns French Guiana. That's a black mark on us.
