Why would an Indian immigrant choose Korea over US, UK & Canada? On top of that I have a friend who interned with a company based in Korea, he said work culture over there is extremely toxic and stressful and he would never last there for more than a year.

im korean myself but how would i fully understand their motive if im not walking in their shoes? i just want to know their thought. by the 'neighboring countries' i mean the other subcontinental countries surrounding india like pakistan, bangladeshi, sri lanka etc.
and yes, i understand their preference to western countries over east asia, but doesnt that go same for countries i mentioned above? what i dont understand is that number of guest workers from india coming here is relatively smaller than that from their neighbors. even sri lankans alone outnumber indians.

What kind of job profile do sri lankans have? For instance there are a lot more nepalese than indians in East and Southeast asia, but they mostly do menial jobs. Indians who migrate for menial jobs largely go to gulf countries not east asia.

However English is the go-to language when speaking with another southerner, who doesn't speak your language.

Compare this to the north, where hindi is a common language between them. So they don't need english.
