i have a simple question: why is imperial europe (britain, france, germany in particular) in such a sharp and drastic decline? why are they no longer trying to annex new land and so on? why do new and old europe basically have polar opposite mentalities? why are they giving up territories like hong kong away for free? why have they stopped turning nations into plantations? why are they inviting all these primitive peoples in, who could only be used as outdated agricultural equipment in the past, and who have absolutely no place in modern economy/society just like they have absolutely no contributions to modern technology or science in their own home countries? why can these europeans do everything better than all others (especially strategic sector like aeronautics) but instead of developing strategic sector they sink funds into zero return stuff like welfare for the undesirables?

When you learn that the world isn't a game of EU IV it becomes a lot more complicated. Stuff like colonial upkeep, cost of putting down uprising, and crisis at home causes a lot of problems, furthered with other countries not allowing you to do stuff (USA, USSR). Fighting wars to keep Africa just wasn't worth it. Annexing new land is impossible with the diplomatic situation post WW2

What about, you know, the simple idea that the rest of the world is rising up disproportionately after being uplifted by Europeans? Or the fact that economic elites have the local governments more by the balls than ever before and most political choices are not the answer to the question of "what is better for our people?" but "what can we do to give a chosen few even more money?". Combine that with the presence of a docile population that for the first time in history could reach an amount of comfort which completely displaced the drive to change something and is flooded by false information from every crevice and you start to see the picture. Britain, France, Germany and so on are no longer discrete countries with interests shared by its citizens who strive to guide the country, their management is floating on a level the average citizen can not reach anymore nor does he want to.
