Jews will not allow it.

An accident and this shit will make Fukushima look like a joke

remind to myself to move from russia by 2030...

Trips decide

It's totally reliable, the British built it

Fusion is safe

t. doesnt know how fusion works

Fission is a chain reaction, which makes it inherently dangerous. That's not the case with fusion.

I still cant inderstand how it will be limitless

people with an IQ below 140 shouldn’t have internet access

If it's stable, it'll be like having a miniature sun

Technically it won't, but a fusion reaction runs as close to 100% fuel efficiency as the laws of physics allow us to get AND uses the most common element in the universe as fuel, so as far as humanity is concerned they offer limitless energy.

Building a fusion reactor isn't the hard part.

and if it isn't stable?

I want UK to turn in a giant crater subsequently filled with ocean water.

The process shuts down, that's the reason why they haven't got it going for more than a second. We are still very far from a functional reactor.

then the reaction stops, and you use more energy to maintain the reactor pressure and temperature than fusion produces

there are billions of planets with the same conditions as ours in the galaxy and if life was common we would have been visited by or seen evidence of alien life by now
there is a great filter that prevents life from spreading throughout the galaxy, if we have not already passed the great filter it is something that all life stumbles upon, for that to be the case it has to be something that seems completely safe and is easy enough for an advanced civilisation to do
fusion will be the end of humanity, there is no way a civilisation with near unlimited power created by fusion would limit itself to one planet and stay vulnerable
we are very close to the end of humanity

Imagine if the reactor melted down, there would be big explosion, very scary. i hope they dont build it

Probably the Chinese.

We neither have the energy or gravitational strength to create fusion.

Remember that all systems have to have net zero energy change. Fusion means we must have the energy input to smash them together, which is impossible.

OOOGA BOOGA LE PLANT GAS= BOOOM BOOOM

fusion reaction has already been attained, it's maintaining it that is the problem.

Climate change may just be the great filter

I don't know why we're focusing on fusion when thorium molten salt reactors are safer, cheaper and simpler to develop and commercialize and can meet our energy needs for at least 500-1000 years with current estimates.

Fusion reaction, e.g. fusion bombs, requires fission to produce most of the energy to smash them together. Most fusion bombs are a combination of both.

There is no such thing as standalone fusion let alone controlled fusion.

India.

Haiti

mexico

New Zealand (specifically Palmerston North)

No he means that controlled fusion has been successfully done. The big problem scientists face now is finding a way to sustain the reaction for more than a few seconds and also developing materials capable of handling the sheer amount of heat and energy such reactions produce.

And to top it off, it's not only environmentally friendly, but pretty safe, especially in regards to its power.

People also think virtual or simulated realities may also be an explaination to the fermi paradox, and dont forget even if nothing has passed the "filter" it doesnt mean there couldnt be a speicies that can, and we could be the first, however unlikely it may be. But hey, the laws of physics needed to be so finely tuned in order for the universe to exist the way it does now, so low probability doesnt mean much

Fukushima really is a joke anyway.

BINNNNLAND!!!

how do we cull the democratic menace

But seriously, what happens if this thing blows up?

100.000.000°C is quite a lot.

Not sure, but it can’t be nearly as dirty as a fission reactor meltdown.

us

The reaction would stop almost immediately, this thing is extremely unstable.

Producing helium would be helpful too, we're running a little short

But what would happen if a 1000 degree sun made of lava would crash into a -1000 degree sun made out of ice?

there's no chain reaction possible in fusion

>we’re running a little short
We know, you’re japs

This. Loads of helium would bring the very low temperature fridgerators to everyone.

How embarrassing for you.

It's more like "lots of energy from something really common and creating helium in the process"

i hope it will be uk so it can blow safely

ENGLAND

Kill each other like we do all the time, what else is there to do on this rock?

even if it was unsafe, they wouldn't test it in the UK. they would build it in some irrelevant shithole (like fingolia)

You can make a fusion reactor at home
It's very safe and clean but innefficent for power production

Best Korea = North Korea

In the 1960s we were 20 years ahead in terms of civilian nuclear energy. God damn does it saddens me how much they've progressively been pushed aside by litteral fearmongering and general ignorance about it. At least most people I interact with are pro-nuclear (across all kinds of ideology) and this seems to be the case nation wide too. But a loud minority is fucking everything up.
