Xi Jinping plans to reunite Taiwan with China by the end of his 2nd term (2021)

>Xi Jinping plans to reunite Taiwan with China by the end of his 2nd term (2021)
>Taiwan's population is completely seperatist, do not want reunification
>Taiwan basically has 0 friends in the world, is recognized by less than a dozen countries
>China has a 20 to 1 military advantage, can completely surround the island
>Can draw up a reserve army that outnumbers the entire island's population
>Taiwan's economy bought up by Chinese shell companies
>Everything Taiwan does can trigger invasion due to One China Policy

Is this the most fucked country in the world? They are basically living on borrowed time and literally nobody wants to touch this mess.

>Xi Jinping plans to reunite Taiwan with China by the end of his 2nd term (2021)
You got a source for that? Jeez if true, that's just sad.

nah they are fine. nobodies invading nobody as long as the status quo is maintained. China is slowly gaining more leverage so there is no incentive for them to invade unless Taiwan declares independence. lots of countries more fucked, like syria, iraq, venezuela etc.

scmp.com/comment/insight-opinion/article/2126541/china-planning-take-taiwan-force-2020

He basically said "Peaceful Reunification or Else" by the end of his 2nd term.

Taiwan either has to accept or fight, and 70% of Taiwanese surveyed said they'd fight. Its going to be a war most likely unless the current leader somehow disappears or the next election gets botted.

>Gaining more leverage
Wrong. Every single Taiwanese born under non-reunified Taiwan means they are drifting away. People under 30 don't want to live in a totalitarian police state, and the generation that wanted reunification (during the 80s-early 2000s) is already turning against China.

There is no way China can reunify "peacefully" at this stage, especially since China is already becoming an even bigger police state.

You know you have it really bad, if the countries which have the most man-power on your side are fucking Guatemala or Haiti.

>zoomers don’t know what’s best for them
what else is new? Taiwan should just unify, life will be the same.

Its even worse when they only like Taiwan until China starts handing out like billion dollar construction deals, than they switch sides like El Salvador did this week.

Thats why taking a switcheroo tactic like Nauru did with those countries is the best. Always cut ties with one and re-establish relations with other while taking the bag of cash in exchange.
*rubs hands*

China gains more leverage everyday. more trade and cultural ties. But we'll see, i don't expect war between them unless the status quo is changed. we'll see in what? 2021 as you predict?

China doesn't care about the status quo anymore, they wouldn't be militarizing the SCC at the rate they're doing otherwise. There are economic and other domestic problems that are starting to tip, being the president that reunited Taiwan will be enough for Xi to get his third term with the publics blessing.

People shouldn't think that the US will intervene outside of diplomatic protests at the UN either. There's no scenario where the West intervenes militarily to help.

you are making the leap that militarizing the SCC is akin to not caring about the status quo with Taiwan. both are difference examples, conflating them is a mistake.

Not really. Both are attempts by China of asserting control over blue-water areas.

SCC war is the only possible "alliance" because Taiwan kinda fucked itself legally on the One China agreement in 1992. Chinese invasion of any of the other countries would be regarded as an act of naked aggression and a Pacific NATO would likely form in its wake.

>>Not really. Both are attempts by China of asserting control over blue-water areas.

again, you're conflating the two with a cherry picked similarity. can we name all the reasons how they are different? conflating the SCC with Taiwan is like saying i can cook fish the same way i cook beef by virtue they are both animals. the world is more complex then just saying it has similarities therefor doing something to one will have the same effect for both.

What are you talking about? Both are attempts by China of re-claiming territories it claims. Both areas are part of their plan to secure their island chains.

Nobody accepts this and the moment they move beyond Taiwan they are going to get fucked diplomatically.

Good.

How do we stop China from spreading oppression and autocracy to the free world?

Having military dominance over the SCC with nearby naval and air superiority along with almost completely isolating Taiwan diplomatically has made the status quo redundant for the mainland. They're at the point where they will gain more by forcing the issue.

+ ideological win for the ccp and legitimizes xi
+ helps expand the PLAN into the pacific with taiwanese naval ports
+ chinese military and economic superiority ensures no outside interference
+ US is currently shitting the bed
+ EU is currently shitting the bed

- western countries kick up a stink and send nasty letters, sanctions like 89
- asian countries becomes more wary of china, pushing them towards hedging on US/India to counter balance

Honestly.

Vote out Trump. The TPP was supposed to be an alliance of "freeish countries" banding together to control the Pacific. Its fucked now and he's turning everyone against America and towards China.

A trade-war with China alone won't piss people off, but he his a moron threatening trade wars with all other countries.

Haiti said yes because they know even if China nuked them they really can't stand to lose anything at their level.

>>Taiwan basically has 0 friends in the world, is recognized by less than a dozen countries
Shut the fuck up you retarded chink
Taiwan is supported fully by the United States.

And soon they'll be erased just like fully supported by the United States Republic of Vietnam was. womp womp.

hope he tries. the US has to dump its ordinance every ten years or so

Reee shut the fuck up

Good. Taiwan deserves to be invaded.

I wonder if trump is delusional enough that he thinks that the US would win a war against china on their home turf without it escalating into total war

>win a war
lol all it would take is a single fleet, China are all bark and no bite

Fighting in mainland China would be a disaster, but I think we could pull it off if it was just Naval/Air power. Although the gap seems to close by the day.

I just wish China wasn't so damn belligerent now... kinda spooky shit...

>>Taiwan's population is completely separatist, do not want reunification
Taiwan's political scene is literally the two side constantly fingrepointing and yelling at each other over the so called independence. KMT being the against and the DPP for independence. Regardless, even Taiwanese themselves are questioning if Americans are going to help them or are they just looking for taiwan to sell their planes and shit.

>Taiwan's population is completely seperatist, do not want reunification
Most Taiwanese support the status quo actually.

Will this make gpu prices go up?

2021 is the original end of Xi's term, and also 100th year anniversary to Communist Party of China. He need (or at least want) to do something to celebrate and justify himself and the party's position among Chinese population

Why can not China dominate Taiwan if Taiwan is under China's control? Since China can not unify its own country, other countries recognizing Taiwan as an independent nation are bewildered
It is meaningless to ask overseas why China can not dominate its own country

China .

That hair looks like it was done in fucking Flash 8.

What are these island chains?

Their navy are boxed in by Korea and Japan so for a carrier fleet to safely get into open pacific ocean away from gorillion anti ship missile batteries the solution is a network of island fortress covering them as they go south then east.
Look at how Italy in WW2 despite having a decent navy was boxed in the mediterranean waiting to be bombed in port.

taiwan is fucked

>mfw the US funds terrorist orgs to push in from the west and then the US supports Taiwan to stick it to China

Taiwan is already China.

It is unreasonable to speak at the same level for China and cowardly Italy

I don't think China cares that much what the Taiwanese wants. They will simply scatter the Taiwanese population all over China and settle Taiwan with some loyal Han Chinese.

>and cowardly Italy
Look at the geography, what is Italy supposed to do. Pile up at Gibraltar or Suez where they will be bombed to hell and blocked by their own wrecks?

Japan .

and serbia
no access to sea, rapidly losing population, poor as fuck, cucked by montenegro and albania

What does he even stand to gain by invading Taiwan compared to the diplomatic and political shitfest that'll stir up?
I don't see military action happening anytime soon.

If the PRC tries take over the ROC by force, Japan and potentially the ROK will go nuclear within weeks.

Traitor Chang Hsien-yi, you sentenced the ROC to death.

I remember reading something online about the six wars China will have to fight
>China Taiwan reunification war
>forced acquisition of the spratly islands
>reunification of south Tibet
>conquest of the diaoyu and Ryukyu islands
>unification of Mongolia
>reclamation of Qing lands lost to Russia

youtube.com/watch?v=RDrfE9I8_hs

They'd be winning if China nukes them.

It'd end their suffering.

Don’t make a joke out of the blue

China.

Uhhhh...
What?

>Taiwan's population is completely separatist, do not want reunification
I thought many left-wing millennials and Zedders support reunification with China because they are stupid?

Chyna has no capability to move thousands of troops into Taiwan

Sokor, Murrica and Japan will also support Taiwan and do their best to cockblock Chyna

All Chyna can really do is spam medium ranged missiles and very long range artillery over Taiwan's shores and pray it hits something

The last time Chyna pulled a similar stunt 20 years ago, the US 5th fleet along with the Nip Navy parked in front of the Taiwan strait and Chyna backed off

The only way Chyna will win is to fund pro-Beijing Presidents which Taiwan did have for a few times

>what else is new? Taiwan should just unify, life will be the same.

What is Hong Kong

I highly doubt they'd try it. The west might not de jure recognize Taiwan but de facto they do. An invasion would either lead to a world war or massive sanctions which would destroy their economy.

Retard

>implying it's not true

Dumb nip

Ryukyu was never chinese tho

lmao
how naive are you? why would anyone care? Taiwan doesn't matter. China does. nobody's gonna do shit
>world war
fucking get real

>Left wing millenials and zedders support unification with arguably the most right-wing authoritarian government on the planet

Lmao. Modern communism is hardly a left-wing movement. Its basically ultra-right wing national fascism.

Because if they seize Taiwan then neighbours will be justifiably concerned that they will be next, like Japan in world war 2

You could say the same about Poland in 1939

Are you a moron?
