Is fine dining a scam?

I went to a 3-star Michelin place yesterday here in Chicago which is allegedly a top 10 world restaraunt and paid $400 for a bunch of garbage lmao

For 400 bucks you could have bought a BBQ grill, 5 different types of meat, and a bottle of fine wine.

This is where I went

Fine dining is like Jazz - it might be masterfully crafted, but far from being catchy.

A crook scammed you in Chicago. Imagine my shock.

You pay for the ambient, not the food.

>400 dollars for food

Jesus wept lad. Maybe your much more well off than me but that's just crazy in my eyes

Mid tier $$ restaurants are best where plates cost around $50

Why are you making this thread everywhere? And while you were scammed not all fine dining is a scam.

Lincoln Park

Best food comes when you make it yourself and put your heart into it.

At the Michelin star or avant garde level of cuisine you're paying for the service and creativity more than quality of food. It's not a scam, but definitely borderline pretentious.

ahh, ok im in the burbs

Absolutely. I have a much better time and get much better food just going to a local place with a friend and getting a good lunch for $10 max.

I'm going to go to lunch with a good friend but he's got to pay for his own lunch

Shame you can't enjoy it by yourself, but at least your cannibal customers will appreciate the sacrifice.

Kill yourself rich cunt.
